Ben-DutkaHEY. Whaddya mean his "last?"
A recent Tweet from Uncharted 4: A Thief's End director Neil Druckmann is making some serious waves.
And you can see why. He simply says that Nathan Drake is "looking mighty good for his last E3." Up until now, most people assumed the "end" the title refers to involves Drake's brother. There's also the widespread assumption that Sony wouldn't dare ditch one of their most popular franchises, not to mention one of the highest-scoring, most respected IPs in video game history.
Of course, you can always make an Uncharted game without Nathan Drake, as strange as that might seem. Who knows? Maybe Sony Santa Monica's next God of War effort won't feature Kratos. It's a brave new world.

Better to go out on top. Too many franchises just don't know when to quit these days. How many times can Master Chief save the galaxy? How many Greek gods can Kratos kill? How many one liners can Nathan Drake really pull off?
I think of Assassins Creed as a clumsy stalker now. #AssassinsCreep

… but it's most definitely not underrated.
I always thought it was the end, that's how you make legends. Plus there's nothing left for this character to do before the games become stale.
If Naughty Dog can give us Uncharted and TLoU then they should be set free.
ND is well within their right to do with their franchise whatever they please. I don't know why gamers act like they're the ones paying ND to make the games.
So long as the man in question does not die, I'm all good. Honestly though I absolutely love it when a company knows when to say quit.

About time naughty dog moves on from uncharted. After remaster of 1-3 on the Ps4 and Uncharted 4 on Ps4 its time for a new IP. Like naughty dog did there other franchises.
Haven'ẗ they proved beyond doubt that they can make other great franchises now? I'd say this is excellent news, look forward to see what they come up with next!

I'm all for new IPs and I'm not a fan of franchises going stale. I can't imagine anyone disagreeing with those sentiments.
But I have to say, legends can only become legends after an extended period of time. Has anyone ever said, "eh, how many Goombas can Mario stomp?" I honestly believe that one of the reasons Nintendo is still around is because of their mascots that they DIDN'T kill off. And if they HAD killed them off, the fastest way to rejuvenation would've been to bring them back.
Is Mario, Zelda, Metroid, etc. that much different? I don't think so. Can Master Chief really die at this point? SHOULD he die? We shouldn't be too quick to ditch franchises; if we keep doing that, there will be no more legends.

Yeah completely agree with this. Not only is Uncharted the best game "franchise" of the PS3 generation, it's also business wise a terrible move killing off basically the only current well-known, highly rated & high sales games Sony has, or at the very least by far their best one.
As everyone knows, new IPs almost never sell as well as established ones, and everyone who was part of the PS3 gen should know that if there was something Sony lacked during that whole generation it was games that not only WERE good, but SOLD well too…
That said, of course they shouldn't just rush out another sequel, but Naughty Dog never would anyway, but wait until they have a great story worth telling before making another sequel…
I for one am very excited about this news.
Loved all Uncharted games, but it is time we free ND to shock us again like they did with TLoU.
