Thumper Is A “Rhythm-Violence” Game Headed To PS4

Yeah, we've never heard of this sub-genre before, either.

Must be a new one. There's a title called Thumper coming to PlayStation 4 next year and as revealed over at the PlayStation Blog , it's dubbed a "rhythm violence game."

You just use one analog stick and one button as you control a space beetle through psychedelic worlds. Developer Drool combines "classic rhythm-action with speed and satisfying physicality." Basically, you're sliding, turning and "thumping" at first and then you'll learn new moves. There are even boss encounters!

The design duo wanted to produce something unique in the realm of rhythm games and, well, I'd say mission accomplished.

"Every sound, collision, and visual effect is coherent and interwoven for maximum impact. There’s no blood or gore in Thumper, but you will feel the violence."
