Ben-DutkaVeteran PlayStation RPG fans have been hoping to see the return of this franchise for over a decade.
We haven't seen a Dragon Quest on a PlayStation platform since 2004's extremely well-received DQVIII; after that, the franchise gravitated to Nintendo platforms.
But maybe after 10+ years, PlayStation followers will finally get another Dragon Quest entry. The translation is wonky but according to this source , the iconic role-playing series is far from done and the next announcement could just involve PlayStation. Yuji Horii says "something might be announced in the future," so I suppose we can all cross our fingers.
Heck, I'd be happy if it came to Vita. In fact, I think it should come to the Vita, as that platform is in desperate need of a high-profile game for hardcore RPG fanatics. What do you think?
wow… over 10 years? That's insane… It does not feel like that long ago, at all.
Hope something is going on. Need a new console single player DQ game. They're releasing a remake of VIII for 3DS in Japan.

I think DQ8 was the last fully turn-based rpg I've played. I miss that mechanic sooo much.
DQ8 was in my top 3 favorite games of all time!
I loved DQ8 but the game was a bit too easy for my taste. I beat it in the hardest difficulty and did not die ONCE!

It almost certainly won't come to the Vita. Not because it wouldn't be a good fit but because Square Enix probably thinks it's not worth the investment, as the platform is all but dead. Ironically if it got more games like Dragon Quest it wouldn't be, but it's reached that point where its past failures are the reason behind its future ones.
As much as I'm looking forward to playing the DQ Heroes spinoff, I'd love to see the real DQ games return to PlayStation. Hopefully for PS4 though. Nothing against Vita, but I'd rather see what they could do with the series on the more powerful hardware.
this is certainly interesting if they do bring it back since a long way back now, you know to like what the response will be likeand such.
