How much better will Uncharted 4: A Thief's End look in comparison to previous games in the franchise?
We've already gotten several peeks and from what we've seen thus far, it looks like developer Naughty Dog is once again going to push the visual envelope.
And in a recent GamesTM interview with writer Josh Scherr, we get some comparisons. For instance, the face models in The Last Of Us and Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception sported "about 90 and 100 'bones'." Now, the new Drake in Uncharted 4 animates with "between 300 and 500 bones." This "completely revamped" facial animation system has allowed the team to take the next step. As lead designer Ricky Cambier added:
"[This] lets us emote more, with all the 'bones' we can put onto [faces] – you pan round the camera to look at Nate's face when he's climbing and you see him grimacing and all this kind of stuff … we're pushing detail on a macro and micro level that I think people are really going to respond to."
As for past titles on PlayStation 4, Cambier said Killzone: Shadow Fall was "pretty impressive looking for a launch title," and The Order: 1886 is definitely "one of the best looking games" he's seen on any system at any point in history.
We don't disagree and we fully expect Uncharted 4: A Thief's End (which now won't make it until 2016) to blow us all away.

Just so people know when they say bones they mean nodes that have influence over a particular surface area of the face. These node objects have been given the name "bones"
It's part of the "skinning and rigging" process in 3D animation.
I say this because it may seem confusing to some when someone claims they're adding 100's of bones to a face when the human head has nowhere near 100's of bones.

Thanks. Great info.
Yes, there are only 28 head bones if you include the ears.

oh wow, i like how they reaffirmed the orders graphics. it really is a beautiful looking game.
When it comes down to it Naughty Dog is why I play games. They are one of the few developers that consistently get better at what they do. I can't wait for this game. Uncharted 1, 3 and TLoU are my top 3 games of all time.
