Okay, so you have to wait a bit longer. At least we've got some compelling new gameplay info.
EA Sports has announced a delay for Rory McIlroy PGA Tour , which was supposed to launch in June. Now it's set to hit PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on July 14.
The reason for the delay involves the "online infrastructure," which EA wants to insure works properly when the title is released. Plus, the game will now be available in the same week as the Open Championship at St. Andrews, and cover star Rory McIlroy is the event's defending champion.
They also delivered a host of new gameplay details. First and foremost is the option of three different control setups; the first is Arcade, and players control the swing with the left analog stick. You can even control the power and spin when the ball is in mid-flight, which of course isn't realistic at all. The second control setting is 3-Click, which Hot Shots Golf fans definitely remember: One click starts the swing, the second sets the power, and the third determines accuracy.
The third and final control setting is called Tour and it's the most authentic and challenging. The length of your back-swing and the power of the follow-through will dictate the flight of the ball, so it'll require a deft touch with the analog stick. And don't forget that the courses should play as they would in real life.
We even get a brand new aiming arc that shows the projected path of the ball, and a new putt read feature on the greens. Lastly, fans will appreciate new ball physics, so the entire experience should be that much more realistic. Well, provided you don't just stick with Arcade.
