Yes, DICE makes the Battlefield games. Yes, they're also making Star Wars: Battlefront .
But despite what you might think, the upcoming multiplayer shooter set in the iconic "Star Wars" universe is nothing like Battlefield .
The developer has vehemently contested the accusation that Battlefront is just a "re-skin" of the long-running Battlefield franchise. Here's what DICE assistant producer Jesper Nielsen said on Reddit :
"I simply don't get the Battlefield re-skin comment. From what we've shown, in what way does it look like Battlefield? Are you seeing tanks, lots of destruction, etc? This will not feel like or play like Battlefield. That's never been our intention."
Nielsen went on to say that "to some extent, all shooters are similar." He says it really depends on one's perspective and cites other FPS comparisons. For instance, the avid Counter-Strike player would never say his favorite game is anything like Halo . It's certainly true that there can be dramatic differences between shooters, but is Star Wars: Battlefront really that far removed from Battlefield ?
Apparently so. Battlefront is scheduled to arrive on November 17 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.

Talks about adding destruction into the game but doesn't go overboard with it. Removed everything that made Battlefront 2 special and star wars-ee. Talks about no space battles but thats ok cause you can dog fight. Now he's telling me this is in no way anything like Battlefield.
I'll be running around a battlefield, shooting people, as one of 4 classes, trying to level up to get more guns. I really am curious now how they will pull this one off. Its not a battlefield minecraft texture pack, its not. Alright. Show us gameplay. Hurry the hell up E3, lets see what EA can show us one year later.
i certainly hope not but i know their is gunna be drip of effect from game series to gamer series cos battlefield is in DICE's DNA so to speak.
but i know they are going to be their own games regardless of the fact that DICE is the dev.
happy gaming
I want to see gameplay. If it's good, there will be three copies of this game running at my house.
Please don't disappoint.
bingo. Pretty simple, really — gimme a great star wars game and I'm all in. If it stinks, they're gonna hear about it from fans.
Seems they lack creativity on the game naming side of things… Battlefront was already used twice on the PS2…
