I don't recommend it. I lost digital versions of Harry Potter when my PS3 last died. It won't let me re-download them like I could my games. I suppose I could write or call Sony about it but that seems too much a hassle.

that's ridiculous, was it because you didn't have your account deactivated from the dead ps3 or do they only allow a one time download?

When I think about it, when my first PS3 died, the phat one, I did call them and they did allow them to be re-downloaded. I suppose I could do that again but it would be annoying. And yea, I think it had something to do with the movie being tied to that very PS3. I just bought my wife a Harry Potter 4-movie set on DVD for like $10 back during Christmas time so I didn't have to bother managing the storage space for them or having to call them. again.
If you have the streaming speed, I recommend Amazon or VUDU because it sucks to store HD movies on a local hard drive (the PSN way).

Anyway, Amazon is big enough to not be concerned with obsoletion anytime soon. And Amazon does work on your PS systems. And on mobile devices you can actually download the movie files if you want, instead of streaming them. Check it out. I think they're a safer bet. Look at what happened to Sony and their music service…. that would have me worried on the movie-side of things from SOny.
