2K Games scheduled a server shutdown for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of NBA 2K14 . No big deal, right?
Well, it's a damn big deal if the shutdown wipes save files because they require online synchronization. 2K assured everyone their saves would be just fine but that isn't true; players have discovered their Career Mode data is gone. The company contacted players after the problem, saying they'd just have to restart their Career (as obtained by Polygon ). Nice, huh?
See what happens when online starts to dictate way too much?

id break the disc, mail it to 2k and say i will never buy another 2k game again.

They've been a joke, 2K14 was a flawed game I'm surprised many still consider it good.
Bugs here and bugs there.
It's why I decided not to buy 2k15.
I am sorry, but I don't see why there is even stink being made over this really. I played and enjoyed 2K14 and when I was done, I deleted the game files.
I also don't think people are realizing that perhaps enough people are playing '14 anymore. Does it suck that people are losing game saves? Yes, but it's not like the game is all of sudden unplayable.
Plus, the game in question is an annual sports title, so it's not the like people should be shocked over servers being shut down. Most people just move on to the newest and greatest version anyways.
And I'm sorry if anything bad happens to 2k.

Awesome! Can't wait to play another Deus EX.
It wouldn't be do bad if they didn't tell people to just start over. Some people put time and in some cases money into my career. Then again why keep playing 14 when 15 is pretty cheap
Sure is a good thing another one will be out this year.
This isn't a result of "online dictating too much", it is a case of a developer being sloppy and apathetic over a game that has been obsolete since October of last year when 2K15 came out.
