These days, if a game doesn't run in 1080p, many gamers view it as a disappointment.
Expectations are higher in every new generation so developers are expected to hit certain benchmarks…even if they're simply re-producing an older game.
The good news is that InXile Entertainment has stepped up for the console versions of Wasteland 2 , which are scheduled to release later this year. Lead Engineer Dan Jenkins confirmed to GamingBolt that yes, both the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One iterations will feature 1080p resolution. However, he adds that they have different requirements due to the genre of the game in question:
"We’re a single-player, turn-based RPG, so our needs for performance are a bit different than other games, like multiplayer shooters. We are looking to strike the right balance in performance and looks for our style of game. We’re currently running at 1080p and don’t foresee any issues as development progresses."
In other words, it's a game where frame rate shouldn't really be an issue, and we certainly don't need 60fps. Look for Wasteland 2 Game of the Year Edition on PS4 later this summer .
