Bloodborne Discovery: Rate A Message, Maybe Save A Life

In Bloodborne , you can leave messages for other players if you're using an active Internet connection.

And of course, you can receive those messages as well. Most people know this, and most people know you can choose to rate messages. But did you know that doing this could potentially save a life…?

The following story comes courtesy of Reddit user yumepenguin:

"So there I am, fighting a boss. I’m out of vials of blood, one hit from death. The beast is low and I know I only need a couple of combos to win.

The beast raises a claw, leaps in, and just before he lands a blow a message appears on the screen, 'Someone rated your message as fine,' I get a full heal, and proceed to kill the beast!

Rate those messages people, you never know when it may save a life!"

There, see? Bet you thought rating messages was mostly worthless, huh? This is a secret feature that should spread through the Bloodborne faithful like wildfire because really, any little boost you can receive will likely be welcomed with open arms.

If you've got any stories you think might be unique, feel free to share. Everyone benefits. 🙂

Even with the Souls game I have a VERY SLOW start where I die a bunch of times but then later on I get the hang of it and I become a force to be reckoned with lol.

The atmosphere reminds me of Nightmare Creatures on PS1 — anyone actually remembers that title?

Oh yeah, that game was creepy. I remember playing the demo a lot, never played the full game though.

That's pretty awesome. I'm playing offline right now for the first playthrough. I don't want any help or spoilers. A lot of the fun has been the light bulb turning on after repeatedly dying on something. After I'm done with this I'm definitely checking out scholar of the first sin. I didn't like the Demon Souls combat, but I'll still give Dark Souls 2 a chance. Maybe I'll be better after playing and getting hooked on Bloodborne.

It was like that in Demons' Souls. Someone rated a message I put down to mark a hidden passage to an item. Sadly the heals are in realtime it seems, so if it's rated as you heal yourself you can waste heals, or it will be ineffective.

It's never something to rely on, but I guess the extra chance at being healed raises your survival rate, even if only a little…

It would be cool if while reading a Note, the Note would tell you if the player needs your help (thereby motivating you to 'Fine' it). For example, sharing the health level of the player that created the Note; even better if it shared a video clip of the real-time activity of the player that created the Note (twitch-like).
