The Suikoden Revival Movement carries on.
If you somehow missed this great series on Playstation consoles it was the only JRPG franchise one could reasonably stack up against Final Fantasy. They had great stories, plenty of content, well-developed characters, and strategic turn-based battles. Then after Suikoden V on PS2 things went quiet. There is a new title for PSP in Japan as of last year but that's not really a revival is it?
It just so happens that Final Fantasy has left a swath of gamers in the dust lately so could Suikoden be primed for a return in the next generation? Maybe Konami is hoping to grab that demographic? Well, probably not at this point but it's nice to know that the Suikoden Revival Movement has not been forgotten by Konami.
I recently inquired with Chris Holmes, the brains behind the Facebook campaign and asked him if the movement was engaged in any conversations with the folks at Konami recently. I received the following response:
“Contact with Konami has been very limited. I can not go into too much details about contact we have had, however. But we have had small conversations with Konami Japan and continue to reach out to Konami on all avenues.”
Console generations have consequences and things change quickly so I'll always hold out hope that efforts like these will one day prevail. As of this report the movement's Facebook page has 11,202 Likes including one by Yours truly.
Related Game(s): Suikoden, Suikoden II, Suikoden III, Suikoden IV, Suikoden V
I would hope that the release Suikoden 2 on the PSN. I hear that is the best one and never got a chance to play it.
It would be nice to see them make a next gen title. I only played a bit of Suikoden 3 but it was pretty awesome.
I'd love to see Suikoden II on PSN, there's no excuse for that not being up by now.
If snap that, star ocean 2/3, or FF12 up in a heartbeat
Yes. Suikoden 2. PSN. NOW!!
…seeing though that the original game isn't even made compatible for the Vita yet makes things seem even less hopeful.
I disagree, suikoden V was not only the last swan song for the series, but it took everything to a new level. It felt like a master piece compared to the others.
Anyways, there is so much lore they can explore in the whole suikoden universe. A true Suikoden VI has been well deserved.
I don't watch anime, nor cartoons. I watch South Park, though. Man, sometimes sh** gets real nasty. I like it, though.
Gets me thinking, I need the game!!

If PS4 (and presumably MS Durango) are opening their arms to indie devs, someone should kickstarter a clone
