Yep, it's a wildly popular franchise.
During a recent podcast with Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb, Gearbox Software boss Randy Pitchford confirmed that the well-received sequel, Borderlands 2 , has sold "well over 12 million units."
He doesn't have exact numbers because publisher 2K is a publicly traded company, but that's okay. 12 million is pretty damn positive. During the interview, Pitchford also spoke about the recently released collection:
"We announced [The Handsome Collection] after the Xbox One launched. And a lot of people that had upgraded, they really wanted the Pre-Sequel on that platform… So, we got a lot of people telling us 'Please bring this to next-gen!', and our publishing partner, 2K games thought it was probably worth doing. We were too busy, we didn't have the resources to do the upgrade… But we looked around for partners and found some folks up in Chicago known as Iron Galaxy and some folks down in Austin known Armature, who are experts are this kind of stuff. And they were able to jump in and port it… They found that because Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel was on the same engine as Borderlands 2, we were able to get it as basically a free bonus."
Pitchford said a remake of the original Borderlands remains a possibility, but that will likely depend on the performance of Borderlands: The Handsome Collection . For more, check out our newly posted review .

these remakes are getting out of hand. what happened to original/new games? these developers are getting extremely greedy.
hey lets remake every single game in our library and add a "bonus directors cut dlc" until the new next gen systems pop up. next up ps5 remakes for all ps4 games. ridic.

Holy, never knew Borderlands 2 is such a successful title.
Now all we need is Borderlands 3.
Can't wait for it.
thats pritty awsome as in the fact that is was pritty easy for them to port the game over to the ps4 really pritty easily so that good for everyone that wanted to have that come ova but yeah i say time to slow down or put the brakes on the remakes we can't do this forever i know its just a stop gap measure but still only so far and now i think we've peaked with GoW3 and this it needs to stop now other wise it'll just me remakes all gen or atleast it'll seem like awhile and people will get sick of it i'm telling you now they will over shadow the good new releases that come with along side them
happy gaming
