Omega Quintet Releases In US On April 28

Quirky and complex; that's standard fare for a JRPG, yes?

The latest from Idea Factory, Omega Quintet , has been cleared to launch for PlayStation 4 in the US on April 28.

As detailed over at the PlayStation Blog , this is all about turning your singing ability into a deadly weapon. They're calling it the "world's first JRPG/idol simulation game" and if you understand what that means, you're probably already knee-deep in Japanese culture.

You play as Takt, who is the bodyguard and manager of the Verse Maidens. And of course, you have to save the world, and the idols in question will build up their strength in turn-based combat. Each girl is capable of producing crazy weapons ranging from hammers to guns, but if the enemy can nail 'em with a Costume Break, things could get iffy…

Here's a new trailer for your viewing pleasure.

Count me in, I've seen the gameplay footage and while it's not something that would wow everyone, but looks enjoyable and that's good enough for me.

Glad we still have companies like Idea Factory, Compile Heart and NIS. They make actual Japanese games.

pre-order in. I just kinda wish they weren't full price since they are never close to high quality productions. I guess these companies gotta pay the bills though.

Ugh….. See up until the introduction of the 'Verse Maidens'… It looked interesting. But knowing Compile Heart this will just be another compromised experience mostly full of visual novel moments instead of cutscenes/FMVs. It hurts to see JRPGs like this still around when companies like Tri-Ace are thrown out to back alleys of the mobile market.

Nepro has stated that tri-Ace is still making console games so rest assured.
Though I wonder who owns Star Ocean, SE or tri-Ace?

I think at it's heart it's an idol game. An idol game in the US is like unheard of. Anime geeks will rejoice.
