Ben-DutkaIt's probably too much to hope that it's something long-time fans want, but it's hard not to wonder…
In a recent Nikkei Trendy interview with Square Enix President Yosuke Matsuda (as translated by Gematsu ), we hear about a little "surprise" the publisher has planned for later in the year.
Matsuda first says new JRPG news will begin with Final Fantasy XV 's release; after that, "I think we'll have a little surprise, too." He clarified that it was a "JRPG for home game machines" but otherwise, he offered no further details or information. It's a little surprising because Square Enix has really only known solid success publishing outside titles like Deus Ex: Human Revolution , Sleeping Dogs and Tomb Raider . Their JRPG prowess has long since fallen off.
So, what do you think it is? Might it be a revival of a PS1 IP like Vagrant Story ? Could it be the return of a legendary franchise like Secret of Mana or Chrono ? Or will it be a brand new IP? Discuss.
Chrono Trigger recently had it's anniversary, so that might be something.
Personally I'd want a reboot/remake or sequel to Chrono Trigger, I'd also like a new Dragon Quest, and of course that FFVII remake…
How likely that this will be another SE disappointing troll job?

Chrono trigger had a sequel, chrono cross.
But it would be awesome if it was the long ago rumored chrono break.
An ffviii remake would be epic though…

SE is more braindead on Chrono than they are on Final Fantasy.

it could be a sequel or remake of one of their ip's thats been buried for some time or a brand new one for us westerners since they think they know us so well and how absolutely none of us care or want a ff7 remake.
like seriously, if they want to make boat loads of money, (im even confident enough to say beating a years worth of cod) all they have to do is remake ff7. and not that troll fest they showed us @ the ps experience.

I think we should beg them not to remake FFVII. They seem to do the opposite of what fans want. It's worth a try, even if you don't ask me.

Chrono Trilogy HD
100% definitely a port of a mobile game.
I just with they would release Final Fantasy IX HD on PS4 or even Steam I would be a very happy man. VII and VIII has already been done just 1 more..
Been waiting a long time for a vagrant story sequel. That game was amazing , especially the art style and atmosphere .
Of course , i would mind another chrono trigger if it s base on that game combat and not cross .
Loved Vargant Story but was so hard! Never finished it :/ The Demon Souls of the PS1 era lol
Definitely agree, would love to see a Vagrant Story sequel. Very original in terms of art style and they could quite easily follow on with a sequel.
Would be a suprised if they actually listen to their fans on that poll they did a few weeks back… Fans already told them what they wanot and have been for years now… They haven't listened to the fans at all and will be suprised if they do now
If they listened to that I'd be shocked, it'd mean a re-rez of FF7 on the PS4 version. Or Chrono (unlikely) or Grandia or a Star Ocean return.
I think it's a chrono game. They've had random signs of interest in it for some reason recently.

After seeing a bit more of FF 15 ( with the Summoning of Ramuh), might there be some hope for SE? We shall see.

Okay never mind I got a half hour into it before work, it's… eh.
Its definitely an RPG World. It might not be what people expected but it is closer to an Action RPG, than an Action game like Devil May Cry.
I quite like the combat, I can see how it would get really tactical in later fights. The voice acting is a little silly though.
Final Fantasy XV will release this year? Or did he mean to say the release DATE?
idk maybe it is to much to ask after this long a time or maybe there might be a pleasant surprise
