Celebrate The Art Of The Order: 1886 With The Blackwater Archives

Even if you're not the biggest fan of the game in question, you might still appreciate this if you're an avid art lover.

It was no easy feat to create the stunning world and visuals in The Order: 1886 , but the talented Ready at Dawn artists came through in fine fashion.

If you're appropriately impressed, you might want to pick up the Blackwater Archives – The Art of The Order: 1886, a beautiful leather-bound art book consisting of 260 pages of unbelievable artistry. You can check out some of those images over at the PlayStation Blog , and as Art Director Nathan Phail-Liff said:

"In the pages of this book, we have hand selected a wide range of pieces to reflect all aspects of the game, covering characters, creatures, weapons, props, and environments, from the earliest conceptual sketches through final production art. With such an enormous library of beautiful work to choose from, we tried to select pieces that were not only a stunning representation of the artistry behind The Order: 1886, but that also give people a deeper insight to the creative and artistic thought process that went into building characters, technology, and a world with its own cohesive sense of identity of time, place, and history — believable, but slightly off from our own."

Maybe you need a new book for the coffee table; I sure do because my Art of Final Fantasy IX book is starting to show its age.

The 'Art of Final Fantasy IX' is a real treasure, it doesn't just show all the polished anamo artwork but all the little sketches within development. It's like some too a massive cp a im to the Squaresoft office and compiled every little deign within that book. Snagged it for 10 pounds on Amazon, seller said it was in acceptable condition, turned out to be mint 😀

Also, on the subject of Artbooks, there is an Artbook for Metal Gear Solid V in the works, something I'll be snatching on day 1! As for The Order, despite what many think of the game, I reckon this could be a decent investment.

I don't have the extra dough for these but The Order's world was very well developed, like they said slightly off but perfectly placed for fiction. Would have been nice if that was noticed more.

After DMC and FF0 I might play through it again just to gawp at the visuals and stuff.
