If you like the idea of an old-school fantasy adventure that features great co-op action, pay attention.
We've got more information on Magicka 2 thanks to a detailed post over at the PlayStation Blog .
Social Media Specialist Ryan Clements describes his time with the demo from developer Paradox Studios, and it sounds like a spell-slinging good time: You play as a wizard who can channel eight different elements and you can these elements in a straightforward capacity – i.e., hurl bolts of lightning or have fire shoot from your staff – or you can combine these elements to create powerful new spells. All elements are fully unlocked at the start, so feel free to experiment.
The development team took "special care" to insure that the DualShock 4 controller has been optimized for this particular version. It's simple: Each of the four face buttons are assigned to a particular element; holding the L1 button down will bring up each element's opposite. And of course, it's guaranteed to be more fun with drop-in, drop-out co-op (with any combination of online and local players). Just remember that like in Helldivers , friendly fire is always a danger…
The game also boasts a full campaign, and we also get artifacts, a new addition. These will be "adjustable game parameters" that can change your stats for the better, or actually enhance monsters if you want more of a challenge. All of this combined sounds like a rip-roaring good time, and I can't wait to check it out when Magicka 2 arrives for PlayStation 4 on May 26.
