And yet another game comes out looking just a bit better on PlayStation 4.
Many multiplatform titles have scored higher resolutions on Sony's console, and it's the same situation for one of the year's most anticipated games.
When asked about the native resolutions for the upcoming Battlefield: Hardline , developer Visceral Games confirmed the final numbers on their Twitter page :
Battlefield: Hardline will launch on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC on March 17. The PS4 iteration is your best bet unless you've got a pretty monster PC rig. Think your machine can handle the specs ?

Lol nope. Gonna stick with BF4 while I wait for BF5.
either BF5 or starwars battlefeild
Same here, battlefield hardline does'nt interest me, i'll wait for BF5
Yikes… That's going to cause some trouser fires.
some furious fan boys are on their way run for your lives
Gamespot hit over 1K comments in no time! XD
well well surprise surprise totally didn't see that coming at all =P, its becoming a bit of a joke now
happy gaming
This is totally going to be a 1080/60fps generation. Lol
I will get this on PC, although still will be decent on ps4 even at 900p. But 720p is last gen sub HD that's sad and very noticeable visually.
So much for xbox fanboys hyping up dx12 and the supposedly more powerfull cpu xbone has over ps4. Dx12 will benefit PC more.
What!? no 4k/60 fps, Lame. Well this is what ya get for selecting low to mid range hardware.
Ya need 4xTitans in SLI!
Get with the program.
Did I sound like PC eliteist now? haha.
Not getting this at all. You get almost a PS4 and a TV for the price of one high end graphics card.
Yea so most games have to lower the res to sub 1080p to get 60 fps. But in shooters like these the 60 fps is more important right?
LoL I have a gtx 780sc and its not needed to max out hardline in 1080p. You can find 780s for $250-$300 now. For consoles its ok obviously their needs to be sacrafices but damn 720p is a steep downgrade for xbox. Not really next gen.
"You get almost a PS4 and a TV for the price of one high end graphics card."
No, you can't, not even close. You can get a 4GB GTX 970 for $50 less a PS4, and that is a ridiculous beast of a card that is complete overkill for any game on the market today and will future proof your rig for YEARS.
You could get a card that could max Hardline for around $200.
Yeah, I were just messing around. It's not that expensive for GTX 780s now, but 980s which is what I call high end card nowadays.
Were the same as my PS4 and TV when i bought them around for Destiny release.
I live in Norway so you may add 20 to 25% on US prices.
The PC specs for this game are pretty mid-range, actually.
Where/what are the specs?
I had to look them up elsewhere since the link Ben provides doesn't have them, but they are:
Minimum:
OS: WINDOWS VISTA SP2 64-BIT
PROCESSOR: Athlon II/Phenom II 2.8 GHz, Intel Core i3/i5 2.4GHz
MEMORY: 4 GB RAM
GRAPHICS CARD: ATI Radeon HD 5770 (1 GB), NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260 (896 MB)
HARD DRIVE: 60 GB
DIRECTX 11
Recommended:
OS: WINDOWS 8 64-BIT
CPU: INTEL QUAD-CORE CPU, AMD SIX-CORE CPU
MEMORY: 8 GB RAM
GRAPHICS CARD: AMD Radeon R9 290, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760
HARD DRIVE: 60 GB
DIRECTX 11
Overall pretty average for this gen, and lower than other recent games. The worst part about these specs IMO is the amount of HDD space required. Developers have become so lazy about localization on PC this gen, just throwing uncompressed audio for ALL languages on EVERY release of the game, with the end result being you have to download 30+ GB of audio tracks in languages you don't speak. Titanfall, GTA V and the PC port of FFXIII were the same way.

I like how 64bit OS now fast have become a requirement. About time.
And yeah I agree, that's quite average for a reasonably new PC. That spec will not be able to run three monitors at high resolution, though. 🙂
I don't see the specs on the linked page?
It doesn't have them. I have no idea why Ben posted that link.
Just to piss off PC fanboys, of course.
?
I love ben comment that was great lol.
Well you sure showed us, posting a link that made it seem like you didn't know what PC specs even were 😉

I'm sorry but this is not a issue of the public being 'fanboys' this is quite simply developers producing incompetent products. How can a professionally produced game be released in 720p? I'm genuinely asking because I cannot see any logic to that. It sounds like this is a 7th gen game passing to be 8th gen and failing miserably. I know resolution does not mean the game will be bad but you can't honestly expect me to buy into a game which doesn't meet the basic standard of current gen games.
"How can a professionally produced game be released in 720p?" – because it's what the hardware can cope with at that graphic level.
It's that simple an answer, really. Not that the engine can't be optimized further – it most definitely can – but that's why they release this game in 720p @ 60fps.
Because developers will always go for prettier graphics over higher resolution and frame rates, because you can market pretty graphics, but you can't market frame rate.
I played the beta, and this game runs at a liquid smooth 60fps.
That said, I was already pretty pleased with the framerates that BF4 delivers. (45fps?)
So, for those wondering… it's harder to make 900p/60 than it is to make 1080p/30.
1080p/30 is basically 540p/60.
That's not how it works.
