Ben-DutkaI've been wondering about this for a while, so I figured I might as well ask the PlayStation community.
As we all know, Rise of the Tomb Raider will be exclusive to Xbox platforms when it debuts. But additionally, anybody with a brain understands that it'll eventually come to PlayStation. Maybe it'll take a year and then we'll get another definitive edition or something, I don't know. Either way, it's coming.
However, for the time being, it isn't. And technically, as a PlayStation-only site, I shouldn't be covering the title. After all, it's not official that RotTR will release for PlayStation 4 and besides, we will have to wait longer. At the same time, wouldn't PlayStation owners still want to know about this game? For example, a bunch of great new screenshots were released this week and as the year goes on, more and more details will be made available.
Do you want to hear about them? Or would you rather just wait until the game is officially headed to your platform of choice? I suppose I'll make the decision based on the comments.

theres no need to talk about a game thats going to look better on our platform. so let them enjoy their timed "exclusive"
if anything, we will just be teasing ourselves in anticipation, snickering in the back knowing itll be better on ps4.
My reason is self interested. Why should it get full media exposure for making itself console exclusive for a time being?
Nah. Let them reap what they've sewn and get coverage only where they contained it. Once it's officially announced for PS platforms then cover it.

Haven't you done the same before? Covering non-PS releases I mean? I imagine so, but can't rememer what.
Either way: I think you should. It's of relevance since it after all is coming to the PS4 – only a bit later (that's confirmed, isn't it?).

I think there's a bit of difference this time. It's not 'officially' announced for the Playstation 4.. yet. xD
It makes it a bit different if the game isn't confirmed yet. Still, it's an interesting release.
Heck, I'd not mind if Sunset Overdrive were covered either. It's gaming news and one of the coolest looking games at that time, I don't mind some insight into what goes on at the other platforms too.
I'd hold out for the PS4 release. To me, what it's like is irrelevant especially since the release to Sony's platform is based on assumption.
Sure? Although it'll be interesting how long of a wait it'll be. If Microsoft went through the trouble to secure this as the "Uncharted-type" game of its portfolio, one would think it'll be exclusive for at least a year. Especially if they are also publishing the title
I don't think an xbox site will be covering Street Fighter V so why cover one of their exclusives.It might come to PS4 it might not so don't cover it till it's confirmed to be coming.
That is a bit different… Sony funded the development of SFV. Tomb Raider is allegedly a timed exclusive.
Speaking of… I'm really looking forward to SFV!
I think it should get whatever coverage PSXE has given to other MS-exclusive titles such as Halo.
Yes, cover it. This way we get the advantage of knowing about it well ahead of its release – giving us more time to decide if we want it & more time to save up if we do.

My vote would also be to wait till it's announced for the ps4, then maybe you could review the xb1 copy to give us a taste of what to expect ahead of time?

It really doesn't matter to me if it's covered or not… But I do understand if it wasn't covered especially since a PS4 release is based on assumption and nothing is for sure until it's confirmed… So maybe you should wait till then

I will agree with some of the aforementioned replies no need to review something that doesn't exist in our platform.
Square-Enix took a decision about so called exclusivity of TR and they have to live with it till they decide to bring it over.
If the itchiness of my curiosity get the best of me i will have plenty other sources on the net to take a taste of the game and for sure it will not affect at least my visits on the site 😉 even though i am posting rarely.
I think we should. We're all gamers here, no fanboys. This is a special circumstance. I'd be very interested in the reactions of news and a review, good or bad. Also this is a window into the future of the industry. If the game becomes a success in its current situation, then we can expect more companies to follow suit. Its beyond consoles. We should all be interested and also wary..

For me personally I don't see the point in giving a game the type of exposure the publishers want when it's sort of a slap in the face to Sony fans.
I admit I don't mind hearing about it, after all it is a game that will most likely end up on PS4. But as a fan of the games and PS owner I'm not happy with how it's being handled. I'd much rather not have the height of anticipation when the game releases and I can't play it.
however I won't argue for it or against it beyond that as I'm at equal grounds here. Both my reasons for and against can be justified but if the community wants to know tell em'. If not, won't hurt my feelings.
You guys here already have limited time and resources to spend. I'd prefer to see you spend it on Playstation related things. Mention it in an editorial, sure, but maybe not a full review. Save that for when it comes.
It'll be covered elsewhere, so it's not like anyone here is missing out. I doubt any multiple console owners come here for their XBOX or Wii news anyways.

Just to clarify: I meant only in regards to news, not a review. I wouldn't review an Xbox One game for PSXE.
dont do it in the news. that is the last place it belongs until it is coming to ps4. just like someone else said you have limited time and resources. it would irritate me if you were to not be talking about something ps related because you spent time looking for this game that is not on ps4.
as someone else has also said. if i want to see this game i can go to 100 other sites that will cover it.
dont go fishing for hits to cover a game that isnt on ps systems. if i cared what they had going on i would go look. otherwise change the name of the site.
Agree with the majority of previous comments. If they aren't going to sell to us, why should we bother discussing a game that wont concern us for some time to come?
I would hold out on speaking about the game since it's an Xbox game for right now. This site holds its own without it and if people really need to know there are other outlets for that. In the meantime there are tons of other games, exclusive and multiplat, that deserve more of your attention.
I say no need to talk about it until it finally arrives on the platform.
Why bother? When it eventually comes out, it'll more than likely come with extras and maybe performance improvements. So then, your article can include those relevant elements as well.
I just happen to have both consoles so my vote would be to give it some press when it comes out then maybe a full preview when it is officially announced for PS4.
I really like the first Tomb Raider PS4/PS3. I though it was the best remaster to come to PS4, and TLoU close second.
well i was really looking forward to the new tomb raider after i played the last one on the ps3 and had ball with that game it was so good. so even though its going to the X1 initially i think it will be comin our way on the ps4 some time and i don't mind waiting cos i've got a lot of other games piled up while i wait for ROTTR to come to ps4, but i get where you are coming but it doesn't bother me too much at this time

Why not? It's not like this sites news articles are going to widely affect the marketing of the game. The only way this site gets attention lately is by baiting N4G users. Haha.
It wouldn't be the first time articles were created about non-playstation stuff, hell we even had non-gaming stuff for awhile.
I say show details its only a timed exclusive and I loved the last tomb raider. And id rather read it from my favorite playstation news site then from another source 🙂
I'll probably play it day one on X1, but when the PS4 version comes out, I'll be wanting to relive the experience and might just re-buy it.

Probably it's not coming to ps4, only for pc, who know right?
If it ends up coming to PS4 which is sadly unlikely then yes, if not but the game turns out brilliant, then still yes. All good games regardless of platform should be talked about imo to bring awareness to those who shun it just because it's not on their system of choice.
