The original Ratchet & Clank was released for PS2 back in late 2002 and it resulted in one of the very best PlayStation franchises of all time.
Developer Insomniac continually delivered fantastic new experiences and even though some experiments went off the rails last generation, R&C remains one of Sony's most important and beloved IPs. That's why it's fantastic to hear that Insomniac is bringing back the original classic:
As revealed at the developer's website , the new game "re-imagines the original Ratchet & Clank , with updated gameplay and completely new visuals built from the ground up for the PlayStation 4." The project is in development at the team's California and North Carolina studios, which marks the "deepest cross-country collaboration to date." Many of the original designers are involved, too, which is always good to hear.
Okay, so it's not a brand new entry in the series for next-gen consoles. But it's the next best thing, right?

It's good they're still supporting R&C but wouldn't it be better if they spend the budget and time on a whole new R&C?

hey dude if you have a ps3 somewhere get the HD trilogy its still super fun to this day play some of it myself end of 2014
Awesome, please re imagined or reboot Sly cooper series too…
I wouldn't mind playing this again… And it's a great chance to get my son to meet and play the game for this awesome duo… Hopefully I can get him to drop Littlebigplanet 3 and Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare so he can play this reimagined Ratchet and Clank

I hope to get a new original Ratchet game and or Resistance but yeah I think insomniac kind of fell apart when they left sony.
I think they are releasing this to go along with the movie coming out… And I don't think they fell apart, Sunset Overdrive is a pretty fun game… Granted not as fun as Ratchet and Clank series or Resistance but still fun… Sony should buy that company, would suck if they lost them to their competition
I totally forgot about Sunset, I hear that game was great, but never played it.
I more meant, Fuse, that game was really unique looking until they changed the art style. I think it was an okay game but very average.
I worded that poorly before, I think they make great games but FUSE was really meh imo.

Didn't you read it's from the ground up. They already made a hd remake on ps3.
With so many successful (and potentially successful) remakes, reboots, reimagining such as these, I wonder why Square-Enix STILL can't see the potential of the FVII remake/reboot, whatever…

yeah it is and i'm super keen to play me some R&C on the ps4 super syked right just thinking about it. and just last year i decided to go back and play the 1st in the HD trilogy had a blast probably put in like 40-60 hours in for just 1 and 2 not even on 3 yet which i will do when i get through a bit more anime still behind on that front but super keen for this no doubt

Updated gameplay with visuals built from the ground up. So it's still using the old engine. It will control exactly the same.
Deal breaker for me. I've played R&C and want it to feel fresh. I'm sick of all these games reusing old assets.
