If you're a fan of the acclaimed franchise, you're hoping Hollywood gets this one right.
Today, 20th Century Fox released the first trailer for the new "Agent 47" movie, based on gaming's popular Hitman series.
The film stars Rupert Friend ("Homeland"), Zachary Quinto, Ciaran Hinds, and Hannah Ware. Friend takes on the role of the iconic bald assassin; "The Fast and the Furious" actor Paul Walker was in line for the part before his tragic death in a car accident last year. As for the trailer, it says Agent 47 has "super-human strength, speed, stamina and intelligence," although we're not quite sure how faithful that is to the games. Agent 47 wasn't a superhero…
Anyway, the film opens this summer. Gonna go see it?
As long as it has a serviceable story and great action sequences then I may give it a shot.
It looks way better than the last movie…. and no one plays Hitman for its story… that being said as an action movie this new movie looks fine.
Interesting you said no one plays Hitman for the story.
Yes, it's super weak. But having tortured myself through Hitman: Absolution, I'm wondering why people play Hitman at all?
I think the game is pretty average overall, and for every element in the game, there is another game that does it much better. (stealth, guns, puzzles, etc)
Example… I'll be walking around in a mascot outfit, and some guard will be like… "Hmm… I've seen that guy somewhere before. Hey, sir, please stop!"
Like… WTF?!! I'm in a full body MASCOT suit!!
It looks much better than I thought it would. I think they missed the point of hitman though. It should be extreme, stylized subtlety. He should be quietly doing the impossible while the people he stalks might wonder why they feel like something isn't right. It should be a monster movie from the perspective of the monster.
Now that idea right there sounds fascinating!
I liked the original Hitman movie with Timothy Olyphant.
Was disappointed they didn't make a sequel. haha
This looks like a generic action movie nothing like the games…And the actor isn't even fully bald either. Another disappointing movie to one of my favorite games 🙁
So, maybe the trailer is just a poor representation of the actual film, but it sure looks like they didn't learn anything from the last adaptation. Which I thought was actually decent, just unfaithful to the source material. This trailer looks equally unfaithful and worse as a standalone piece of entertainment.
May give it a shot at some point down the road, regardless.
looks alright its just some good mindlesh action with shooting and fights and explosions what more do you want and just throw a babe in for good measure i guess.
happy gaming
