Did you ever consider tackling such a quest without the use of guns? In a freakin' shooter ?
Well, one fireteam appears to have managed it. A group of Level 32 Titans has beaten Crota's End on Normal difficulty using only melee attacks, grenades, super abilities, and blinding bubbles. This was done on Xbox One and you can see Part 1 of the "No Gun Run" below; the entire run spans three YouTube videos. Go watch the third video so you can see the team take down Crota; it's damn impressive. And their reaction is just plain funny.
With games this large, people will always find new ways to challenge themselves.

I really love Destiny and just can't stop playing. I have a team that regularly runs both raids every week. We're good, but I never seeing us being able to do something this impressive. Wouldn't be surprised if a report comes out soon announcing that a group of six did the same thing on Crota's End… on hard mode.

So, my friends and I (5 members) tried the Crota raid on the weekend, and we could not get any farther than the 6th lamp (18 total).
Do we suck that bad??
I believe you just need someone to show the route.
I recommend using a Hunter and in fact, there are YouTube videos of Hunters going solo through that stage.
my favorite thing about this video is how much fun they're having, too many videos are way too serious
