Looks Like Borderlands Will Only Be Made For PS4, Xbox One

Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel was only for last-gen platforms.

And even though it was a darn good game, it only made franchise fans pine for a true next-gen iteration.

Well, don't worry: The new Borderlands project, the one Gearbox Software boss Randy Pitchford dubbed "the big one," is being developed "specifically for next-gen consoles." Take-Two president Karl Slatoff confirmed as much during the company's recent financial report . Obviously, this means the new title is headed to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and it likely won't be available for PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360.

It's probably the right approach. During the first year of the new consoles, we saw lots of cross-over titles and many thought these games were held back by older hardware. After all, they had to function on PS3 and 360 in addition to being on PS4 and Xbox One. Therefore, when a team focuses solely on the new systems, fans are rightfully pleased.

What do you want to see in the new Borderlands ?

Can't wait for this one. Instantly one of my most anticipated.

Honestly other than a few tweaks and upgrades Borderlands 2 was brilliant for the type of game it is. I expect Gearbox to do some excellent enhancements but I couldn't honestly say what game play elements would actually make it better at this point.

Honestly, I' ve never understood the fascination with these games. I have 1 and 2 and they just seem boring as a whole. A few sparks here and there but nothing that I could sink my teeth into. And I can't get with the "it's better with co-op" excuse because nearly every game in existence is a better experience with co-op. I remember playing ToeJam and Earl ( RIP, Sega, my first love) 9 hours straight with my college roommate. Doesn't make that the best game ever. Borderlands is not a series that needs to come to this gen with its lame last gen gameplay..

These games although fun solo, really are designed for co-op that's why the excuse is a legitimate one. Based on the way the enemies, bosses and especially the raid bosses are set up you need more than one person. Why? Because the more gun variations the better and that's where this game shines. Some people don't understand that these games thrive off of a bazillion different guns. What they don't understand is that each gun is worth something and you have to wager which will help you and your team more. That's where co-op makes these games shine. Not to mention the skill trees of each character also helps your team out as well. There is a lot of strategy to these games believe it or not.

I hear the argument a lot that the enemies are bullet sponges. And maybe some are just built tough. But the majority have a strategic way to take them down and it makes them less of a bullet sponge if the player wants to utilize their weaponry and tools accordingly. Again this area helps co-operatively.

If these games are boring to you, you should try co-op with someone. I know I couldn't play them by myself (except to farm weapons) and my buddies and I put more time in these games than I have any others.

And if that doesn't wet your appetite I'm not sure what will. The gameplay is exceptional, the leveling system is brilliantly sculpted to give variety per player, strength per character, and an abundance of ways to play each character. The weaponry as described is phenomenal the way they create each weapon to have its own strengths rarely finding the same weapon twice and same goes for shields and grenades. This keeps things fresh and fun when farming or looting. And then the co-op. There's no better co-op experience out there. From the team work needed to the very framework based around the gameplay all the way down to small things such as sharing and trading weaponry.

I'd suggest you jump on with me and my buddy sometime but one I've moved on and await the handsome collection and this next installment so I can play on PS4. And two it Sounds like you have no interest anyways.

Edit: By the way I'm not trying to argue against you I'm just merely stating why I and my buddies among many others got a lot of enjoyment out of these game, especially playing co-op.

Man, that was as beautifully articulated a point as I've ever read for the series. How can I possibly argue with that? lol. Don't get me wrong; I'd much rather love a game than be turned off by it and if my approach to it is wrong, I'll gladly change it to get the best out of it. I'm getting my new PS4 on the 20th of this month, and I wouldn't ind having someone show me the ropes when that collection drops. You can add me: kamenryuki. I've had the PS3 offline for a while just because the big updates with games im reinstalling on the HDD are just beyond annoying at this point, so I won't actually be online until the 20th. I appreciate the help getting into it because I read people raves and I want to get the same level of enjoyment out of it.

There's a lot to like if you want to invest the time into getting the full experience.

I'll add you and if you feel like giving it another shot I'll get my buddy and we can jump on.

I'm disappointed to hear your view on Borderlands, Kid. But, to be honest, Borderlands really does only shine with a full co-op team. I played Borderlands 1 + all expansions to death with friends and it was a complete blast!
But then I tried playing solo during one Xmas break, and it was extremely mediocre.
I also really like the cell-shaded cartoon look of the game, even though that puts some people off.

Mind if I add you as well, Kid? Looking for other mature gamers out there to discuss gaming information while blasting some baddies!

What I want to see in the new Borderlands?

A continuum of the crafting feature they started with "the grinder" in the pre-sequel.

More customization of the characters. Maybe even design our own character. (it would not matter to the story)

More different vehicles!

Modding of all the things! Weapons, outfits, vehicles…

Player housing? I'd love to earn mad trophies and put them somewhere in an apartment as deco.

I wanna LIVE in Borderlands, damnit.

I thought about modding weapons and outfits before… I've come to realize it wouldn't work within what they are trying to do.

Since the weapons play such a crucial role in gameplay and strategy. For instance each sniper rifle is different. Some let you zoom farther with maybe a debuff to its power. While Some have a lot of power but elemental damage is down.

If the player can alter these then there's no use in having a million guns available. The grinder is a good medium! Same goes for any other gear as well.

There's already plenty of "weapon mods" in the game, via the mods that increase magazine size, reload speed, etc. Something like those, in slots on the weapons. The weapons could have a variable amount of mod slots – some none at all.
A lousy weapon could have multiple mod slots and *could* become an awesome weapon, if the owner had the right mods.

Yeah I mean spending bad ass points let's you upgrade stuff like that but it's more for your character. And there's also character mods that boost gun attributes but again it's directly related to the character, not by the gun type.

If you are able to go in and tweak a gun based on 1 of the some odd million models available it's starts to detract from what they've built. Essentially there would be no need for that many guns, rather only a few with an abundance of mods available. Me? I'd rather them keep the many guns because I have as much fun farming and looting weapons to find the right one! They've done all the modding for you, you just have to put some work in to find the one you want. 😉

I didn't have the badass points in mind but the items you place in slots on your character, like the class mods or those crystals (or whatever they are) that boost reload speed, fire speed, elemental damage, clip size and so forth. Or the grenade mods – in all practical purposes those are all weapon mods.

So it's already in the game today. I just want to see those same kind of mods being attached directly to the relevant weapons according to preferences instead of having to shift body mods depending on what weapon you want to use.

The gameplay of BL2 didn't click with me the way BL1 did and I don't even know why.

What I would like from this new Borderlands is more variety in locations. Character creation/customization. Cleaner art style. More of a story similar to Tales from the borderlands in terms of humor. AND…

More enemy variety.

Tales from the Borderlands episode 1 was so good. Best telltale game for sure!
