It's one of those games that has its fair share of detractors but at the same time, there are plenty of supporters, too.
Here at PSXE, it looks like we have more skepticism than optimism in regards to Dying Light .
According to our most recent poll, the majority of participants are either unsure about the game or are simply not interested at all. There were some who were definitely on board but that group of fans doesn't hold sway 'round here. Our review is coming at the end of tomorrow; there's quite a lot to think about when approaching such an analysis.
This week, which of the upcoming "Big 3" PlayStation 4 exclusives most intrigues you? The Order: 1886 , which launches in just a few weeks? The challenging Bloodborne , set for March? Or the almost guaranteed insta-classic, Uncharted 4: A Thief's End ? Vote now!
Related Game(s): Dying Light
Seems like Dying Light hate/love opinions are split pretty well. Don't know whether to buy it or not… And, if I could only get one of the "Big 3," it's The Order:1886 that would enter my game collection!
My biggest crutch with he game is the parkour FPS style. I simply can't stand jerky and inconsistent controls in FPS because it already runs out the clocks trying to see what you're looking for.
That said, a lot of people are countering my opinion with flak about how well it works for them. That's not to say either of us are wrong, but it's something that's hard to judge/explain without trying it out. Maybe a share play session is needed?
After playing crappy dead island game I never want to play anything made by Techland anymore…
They made up for Dead Island with Call Of Juarez: Gunslinger. Not bad for a downloadable game, but yeah, Dead Island put a bad taste in my mouth as well.
I hated dead Island as well but I love Dying Light, maybe rent it if you can. It's worth a try.
In my opinion Dying Light is what Dead Island should have been.
If you like the setting itself and like a very open-world/sandbox type gameplay, then I would not write off DL that fast.
It's by no means perfect, but to put it his way; Had this been a sci-fi themed game I'd love it to bits. I've never been a zombie fan but still find the game to be quite good.
And I didn't like Dead Island either.
Dead Island is good everywhere but in quality.
Dying Light looks interesting and fun if I had friends to play it with.
Out of the Big 3, Bloodborne interests me the most. I know Uncharted will be good and I'm hoping the Order is good.
It looked cool but after watching some gameplay I'ma pass.
I'm loving Dying Light, although it's a weird one because I agree with pretty much all of the criticism and yet I still love it…
dying light is a perfect example of whats wrong with this generation.
so many games with great ideas, and actually reasonably well done but not done to the extent it should.
especially dying light, i mean what sets it apart from every other game, why does it exist instead of doing another dead island?
its parkour system, thats the whole point of the game.
so why is it so poorly implemented and actually quite restrictive?
why isn't the whole game built around it and the fluidity really expanded to something like sunset overdrive?
take dying light and implement the parkour system of sunset overdrive, boom theres the perfect zombie game!
why does EVERY game this gen have to actually be quite creative and good, but just no where near as in-depth and expansive as it should be?
None of the three. The only ps4 exclusive I'm interested in this year is No Mans Sky.
Fingers crossed
fair enoug fair call that game does look sick

Defo gonna wait on Dying Light, my vote still goes to The Order. Bloodborne too hard, Uncharted is an expected commodity.
Dying Light is torture to me. I want to like it. I really want to get past the quirky parkour. So much emphasis on it happens to make the flaws of the mechanics a pain to get past. Didn't look up *just* enough? Too bad – you're taking a solid 30ft fall to your death. Didn't quite get the angle just right? Fall. Want to work your way around a poll? Hope you didn't want to see where you're going. It goes on and on. Perhaps this is why I dislike FPS games. The limited view is like playing a character with welders goggles. The smoke in every crucial area and flat colors make it hard to see your enemies. The controller layout flat-out sucks. Why wouldn't you offer variety of control mapping?! Especially with such an unconventional map. It actually makes the gameplay mechanics less intuitive. Aiming your hits is pretty annoying and clearly inaccurate a lot of the time. The getting around by foot is stupid annoying, too. The NPC that you're trying to help are so freaking stupid. Saved them? Perfect! They'll try to take on EVEN MORE ZOMBIES a few feet away from where they almost died at the hand of just ONE! Guns in this game are an awful lopsided handicap. If that's the point, then why tack on more than a few enemies at a time? 3 is bloody difficult without retrying and being creative with the landscape (which also feels cheap like roundhouse kicks in Street Fighter 2). Ice that cake with the death penalty!
There are things I do like about the game. In fact, I'll continue to work my way through it because of these things. I don't do co-op, which probably hurts my ability to keep on keeping on and get the feeling that the death penalty may have been implemented because of that feature (since you'll still get the same amount of points for completing missions). I do like Kyle Crane. In fact, he's a flat out cool dude. That alone makes me want to keep trying..albeit after a day-long hiatus from my last frustrating experience. Lockpicking is snazzy. Some of your crafted items that you can throw are weak, but pretty nifty. The variety of types of zombies is good; especially when you can use them to your advantage.
As far as my MOST anticipated? In order of most wanted to least: UC4, BLOODBORNE!, and The Order. Mostly not too thrilled with The Order as it's a genre that I struggle to enjoy. That doesn't mean that I'll pass it up. I need to find a game that'll eventually be a breakthrough for my taste and its style.

i don't know why you couldn't have put and option for all of the above cos i really want all of them but i guess the order is coming 1st so i suppose i'll go with that for now.
and dying light for me is so so i mean the ideas behind it are solid i'm just not sure wether the game its self cos i heard mixed feelings so i'm unsure atm
happy gaming
