There are lots of hugely promising games on tap for 2015.
However, which one do you expect has the capacity to really surprise you, either in a good way or a bad way?
I think for many, it's going to end up being The Order: 1886 . Those who are giving it flak don't seem to fully comprehend the scope of that game, and I have a feeling many naysayers are going to end up eating their hats over that one. Thing is, if you really dive into the nuts and bolts of what Ready at Dawn is trying to do, it goes well beyond the standard third-person shooter. To think it'll be nothing more than a generic action game is insulting to the designers, that's for sure.
But if that's not the game that you think will surprise you, which is it? I'd like to say I'll hold out hope for Final Fantasy XV , but the only way that title surprises me is if it actually turns out to be a good RPG. And as it doesn't seem to be a role-playing game in the first place, I doubt it'll happen. But you never know…
I really hope FFXV surprises you.
Yes The order 1886 will surprise you, with how low the score is…
Hope not.
You know FAREEZ, I belive that Ben have played this game (some portion of it), and it surprised him in positive way, and becasue of review embargo he can not tell straight thath he played it and it is ***ing awesome. Maybe I am wrong….
i'm hope for something great unlike some people cough cough fareez cough cough
happy gaming
I believe No Mans Sky has the greatest potential to surprise everyone. If it turns out to be more than a gigantic universe of random stuff to look at but holds an actual game too, well then I'll fall off my chair in surprise.
I *hope* it will be so, oh boy how I hope it, but it's really quite unbelieveable if it does.
anybody know if it's the full $60?
I haven't seen any prices anywhere, but I would not be surprised if it's at a lower price. Indie games usually are.
Of course, few if any has had the scope of this game. We'll see.
I'm wondering what the point of this article is.
However I think No Mans Sky has the biggest potential to surprise everyone… in a negative way. Up until now everyone seems to be positive about this game and it's very ambitious, but I really don't see how the gameplay can be interesting. I hope I'm wrong off course.
I agree that both The order and FF XV have to potential to surprise positively.
2 games that could go either way are The Witcher 3 and Quantum Break.
The answer to that question is clearly defined in the second paragraph.
Drive Club PS+ Edition. I'll be surprised just to see it be released.
I admit I was a little disappointed when Versus XIII was magically changed into XV, but it is exactly what I thought it would be when they announced it as Versus XIII.
So I think it'll be a good game for what it is meant to be. (We always knew versus would be like this) I do think it was unwise of them to make it a main numbered series, though, as it doesn't really resemble the franchise in terms of gameplay. I just think doing that invites a tremendous level of expectation from fans and critics… and not sticking to your roots can raise the risk of critical failure.
What I mean to point out is, had it stayed a spin-off as versus, I think reviewers at large as well as fans are more likely to score it higher.
But yeah… I expect it to be decent 8.5/10 game. So I don't think it fits as a "surprise" for me. I'll be surprised if it's over 9 on meta-critic or around the 7 mark, that's for sure.

I agree, it would be better to have another lengthy wait for a good turn based FF than to just jam a side action title into the main series to fill the gap of numbers.
By the way… remember that Square Enix tech demo a couple years ago? What's up with that now?
It's gonna be some social action game on the PS5

That's catchy!
I have faith in the order that it wont be a surprise that its good.
To be honest, there is really nothing on tap for 2015 that could surprise me.
I could be easily surprised by exclusive or new game announcements though!
I agree with Ben, I am completely unsure of what to expect with The Order, but I will be picking it up I think.
I hope it turns out really great.
