It's one of the most common questions heard in regards to PlayStation Now:
Will we ever be able to play PS2 and PS1 games?
For now, Sony's subscription streaming service gives gamers access to over 100 PS3 games but of course, PlayStation's history stretches farther back. So, what's the deal? Well, it's a mix of good news and mad news, as Director of Marketing Peter Jamshid explained over at the PlayStation Blog :
"There are some amazing games for PS1 and PS2 and our longer term vision is to go back further into the PlayStation generational library and offer those with PlayStation Now. Right now however, we are focused on bringing to users experiences from the amazing PS3 library."
Earlier this week, Sony unveiled the subscription plan for Now, which will be $20/month or $45 for 3 months, and it gives users unlimited access to the available PS3 library. Guess we'll just have to wait for the older games.
This is great for the games you perhaps never got around to playing/owning. But i'm sure that many of us here and everywhere have very large collections of PS3/PS2/PS1 games. Its sort of unnerving when we have to pay to play them again. On the other hand at least we have the option.
Add Disaster Report and Haunting Ground and you got my money.
I just don't know what to think about PS Now. Maybe it's the fact that I don't own the games when subscribing or renting on PS Now. I don't want to be "that" guy but how about an option to buy games on PSNow?
everyone who posts on here is already "that guy"
You mean like the buy option from gamefly where you pay a bit less since you already had a subscription? Stellar idea.
My prediction for Playstation Now – they are going to totally promote this for a year then after that they will make a patch so that you could download & play previous purchased PS1, PS2 and PS3 games on the PS4 prior to the implementation of PS Now.

I like
Now if only they stretched further back, and got Amiga, Commodore 64, and Atari 2600 games as well as PS1, PS2 and PS3, I'd be putting my money in! C'mon Mission: Impossible, Law of the West and Epyx 'Games' series!! (hey, one can dream, can't they, even for us 'older' gamers??!!)
no. one cannot dream to play games from a different system. thats just like everyone wanting mario and zelda to be on ps4 so we can get the best looking versions, or why not even pc since its the only machine capable of producing the very best.
I get the feeling this service isn't so much for current hardcore gamers, we tend to have to own something. It may be successful among weekend gamers.
I do hope it is successful, especially so Michael Pachter can eat his words about it being a stupid idea that will fail.
Praise Gaikai.
yeah well thats all well and good but that really only works for those who didn't have a ps3 it won't appeal to me till the ps1 and ps2 games come along, cos i already own most of the ps3 games that i want
happy gaming
