Good news: Your wait is just about over.
Sony Online Entertainment LLC (SOE) has announced that the first wave of PS4 players to visit Auraxis will be deployed on January 20, 2015. This free-to-play MMOFPS will be in a Closed beta phase in North America during the course of this month; it will begin with "a few thousand initial invites" and then it'll expand steadily.

SOE is calling PS4 "the ideal console platform" for Planetside 2 , and it'll be the only PS4 game "that allows massive communities of players to come together to simultaneously experience enormous battles, giving players a truly massive world combat experience."

I'm excited. However I'm becoming less of a fan of free to play than ever. On top of that, this sums up what Bungie said about Destiny and that didn't quite turn out to be true: "that allows massive communities of players to come together to simultaneously experience enormous battles, giving players a truly massive world combat experience". I'm hoping this is true because when a developer does indeed capture that type of experience it will be very good.
I REALLY hope the servers hold up this is going to be the deciding factor for whether they keep it at 2K people or drop it down to 1.2K.
I WOULD try to sign up, but it seems that their servers are down.
