Persona 5 In “Intensive Development”

JRPG fans have a lot to look forward to in 2015.

And one of the most promising titles on the horizon is Persona 5 , which is supposed to be released some time later this year.

Details are thin right now but director and producer Katsura Hashino offered a few updates via Japanese publication Famitsu (as translated by DualShockers ). First, he says the game is "currently in intensive development" and second, he says fans can expect the developers to "reveal the contents [of the game]" after the new year.

The latter time frame is pretty vague (it's January 2 now, obviously), but at least we know more news is coming. Who's up for this one? True JRPG aficionados have known and appreciated this franchise since the early PS2 days, and it's great that the series is still going strong.

They should make a colletion for ps3/ps4 or at least port over golden so more people could be up to speed with the series.

Have they even given us an in game screenshot yet? I have only seen an anime cutscene. If anything I am hoping they cut the silent protagonist for good. The Persona 4 Animation Series proved that having a lead character with a personality works so much better, so I want to see that in Persona 5 more than anything.

I like how you said the "True JRPG aficionados have known and appreciated this franchise since the early PS2 days", because the series didn't get as good as it is until Persona 3, or at least headed in the direction that it's in now.

After finding out about P5, I thought about going back and starting with P1 on the PSP (again), but I can't seem to get into it. P2 has the same art style as P1, but appears to be better.

I know that they've been working on P5 for some time now, but I thought I read/heard that it was coming out for both the PS3 AND PS4. Can you confirm any of that Ben? It would appear out of the norm for the game to actually come out for a current gen system, but perhaps affordable development costs on the PS4 have allowed for it?

I'm with Hexen on the collection (remastered of course) so as to bring others up to speed. I wouldn't mind seeing those games in HD, even if it's just P3 and P4, although my PS3 plays them just fine (80GB MGS4 Bundle, aka the last PS3 version to play PS2 games via emulation of the graphics chip).

Either way, I'm psyched for P5!
