So, you go to buy a PlayStation 4 as a nice holiday gift and what happens?
You come home with rocks.
According to an ABC 7News report , a consumer purchased a PS4 Grand Theft Auto V bundle from Walmart, only to find that the box was filled with rocks. It was to be a gift for Igor Baksht's 13-year-old niece and at first, Walmart wouldn't take it back, as there was no proof of how it came in. The system was previously returned, of course.
On Christmas Eve, though, the store manager finally agreed to take the rocks-filled box back, and return Baksht's money. Well, that's nice. But this story is just rife with depressing commentaries on the current state of humanity: First, some a-hole opted to rip off the store by taking money for rocks; second, the incompetence of the business allowed it happen, and third, some dude was buying a 13-year-old girl GTAV. I think she would've been better off with the rocks.
Yeah, we're going to hell in a hand-basket.
Ben, you need a "Like" button for your articles so I could have tapped it after reading this.
Meh, I've seen worst things happen in the gaming industry.
The second the clerk told me it was previously returned I would have asked that he open it to make sure everything was in there. Common sense.
They usually do it in my local walmart. One time they even told me to include the original batteries, even if they were dead.
Sometimes they don't even check the product before taking it back especially if the person returning it did a good job in making it look like the product was never opened and they usually just put it back in the shelf so anyone buying wouldn't know if that item was returned or not

Looks like this guy got "Greatness Weights" within the box of his PS4.
Perhaps he had no intentions of giving her the game, and that was the only PS4 version available?
No stop speaking sense, if you produce too much of it we can't argue!!! 😛
That's what I thought when I read this story this morning.
Yeah, that or the GTAV bundle may have been cheapest. Either way we can't know the intentions of the man so we can't pass judgement on him. But it was a horrible thing to do by whoever brought it back and an incredible display of incompetence to not check when the scammer returned the 'PS4' and to not check before they resold it.
There's little to no chance it was the only PS4 available and even if it was, and even if it was cheaper, you're still buying GTAV for a 13-year-old.
There's no excuse. The more we keep trying to bend over backwards and find excuses for such behavior, the more nobody is going to care.
Well he may have bought other games as well and was going to keep GTA to himself, but of course that's all just guessing. Heck he could of maybe sold it on ebay or something afterwards and made a profit. But wee'll never know :c
"Hey bro, I'm getting your daughter a PS4. Is that cool?"
"That's awesome! Do me a favor and get the GTA5 bundle so I can play it. Been eyeing that game. Then I'll buy her LBP3 so she has something *she* likes to play"
"Done and done."
have you all been on gta v online lately? 13 years old would probably be considered damn old compared to the little turds i hear on this game
He might've had no idea that the content of the game is highly inappropriate for children. If he was aware, then he got what he deserved. It's almost as if he were meant to be the person to get the rocks.
We can't know that he intended on giving her the game, perhaps as others have said it was the only version available or it was the cheapest.
It's his fault, either way. You owe it to yourself to do your own homework, especially when it comes to children.
it may have been the case that the guy was going to just keep the game for himself and give her the console. the report does say he opened the box before gift wrapping the console. sure, he may say it was to just check the contents but he may have been just generalizing his reasoning to the public.
yea, I know. that's a lot of "may"

or maybe he already has a ps4 and wanted GTAV, so he thought he might as well buy that bundle.
yes, i know, logic is extinct these days………
Probably Kim jong-un who put it, just to prank Sony…
what if it was a worker who pulled this off? since they know they can get away with it easier.
Maybe that was revenge for the $90 dollar PS4 debacle!
hehe could this mean we'll get console boxes again with the little square cut-out on the backside so the actual hardware and serial number can be accessed from the store clerk?
Because otherwise it would seem to me the first guy who returned it with rocks just carefully removed the seal, took the PS4, loaded the box up with rocks, then carefully sealed it back up and claimed it to be "unopened" during the return.
A Walmart clerk could be easily fooled like that.

What do you expect from employees who aren't paid enough to care?
I'd like to believe a person's integrity is more valuable than money.

SERIOUSLY!?
how the &^%$ are you suppose to use a WIFI music streaming device without F*CKING WIFI!?
its like asking i know my car only runs on petrol, but can i drive my car without petrol?
for f*cks sake people simply can not be this dumb!
i seriously need to start taking a bottle of scotch to work……….
