In fact, many would argue that the highly anticipated PlayStation 4 exclusive Driveclub was basically unplayable online when it first arrived.
However, developer Evolution Studios has worked hard to iron out the kinks and besides, there's a darn good game beneath these issues. How good? Well, Velocity 2X studio FuturLab thinks it's the best game of 2014; check out what boss James Marsden had to say on Facebook :
"Words don't really do it justice but here goes: DRIVECLUB on PS4 is utterly fantastic. A perfect balance of arcade simplicity dressed up as realism. Mind boggling attention to detail on the visual side, beautiful lighting and dynamic weather effects add to the sense of immersion, and a pitch perfect learning curve/reward system with wonderful weighty physics makes it stupidly addictive. The thrill of flying around a shallow bend at 150mph to undercut the competition, with camera shaking and controller vibrating in your hands whilst the engine growls and the tyres squeal is unbeatable. Get it!"
We said in our review that Driveclub had a fantastic foundation and despite it feeling somewhat empty, it was a really entertaining racer with true next-gen visuals. As time goes on, it'll get more and more impressive, so you should definitely consider giving it a try.
And speaking of GotY, FuturLab's Velocity 2X has a darn good chance of winning GotY 2014 for Vita, wouldn't you say?

Umm lol… Yes launch was crappy and ps Plus version has yet to show up, but point should be the game as it works NOW. While I wouldn't say best game of the year, it's solid as balls. It shouldn't be ignored by any racing fans. Why does not showing up for ps plus yet have anything to do with how good the game is anyway?
The point is that everyone judges it for what it wasn't and not for what it is becoming. This is one of those games that has a grassroots launch (issues aside) and continuously expands. It'll continuously attract different interest as it announces different material (manufacturers of different continents for example).
I get what you're saying about the game. It's true; 2014 didn't come without severe glitches. There's the other aspect to your view. The side where you allow the game to shine for what it does do right.

Whats so great about Velocity 2X? I thought it'd be this awesome game, I booted it up and it's just a new old shmup.
it lets you get out of your ship and run. then you can get back in your ship and teleport around. it has cool keygen music. interesting sci-fi story too. it's awesome.
i just had had enough by the time i beat the main tour, just wasn't really my cup of tea
