Now that everyone is talking about a sequel to The Last Of Us (thanks to some recent news ), I have a heartfelt request for Naughty Dog:
Please don't make it faster and dumber than the original.
Everything is getting faster and dumber. Everything. From movies to music to books to games; all to appease an increasingly inert, instant gratification society. If we aren't pressing buttons every second, if we're not being titillated by an action sequence, if the camera even stays in one place for more than ten seconds, we can't handle it. We become antsy. It's the product of a massively screwed-up world.
Let's not fall into this trap for The Last Of Us 2 . The game has enough gore; it doesn't need to get any dumber by speeding up the third-person action and turning it into Uncharted . I love the latter franchise, by the way; I just want TLoU to remain TLoU. I like the slower, more ponderous sections, as they're more capable of generating suspense and fear. They made that game what it was . If Naughty Dog maintains a focus on storyline and character development, and retains that mix of survival/horror and action, I'm good. If they go more mainstream and dumb it down, I'm going to be very disappointed.
Agreed Ben. If it works… don't change it, just give us a compelling story with excellent characters. Well, interesting environments as well.
I played TLoU on Survivor mode, which slowed the gameplay down quite a bit for me and it was and is the way to play the game I found out. It was a grind to get through the game and I appreciated the game in the end a lot more.
Don't change the core elements of the gameplay ND, just do what you do best these days, tell us a new story.
Keep playing!
You know you love a game when you're willing to go through it in survivor mode. I did it with MGS3 (Big Boss Extreme) and loved it.
Almost did it as well in the original Devil May Cry 3 after beating it in Hard Mode but… I would have broken several PS2 controls lol.
Kudos.

ND has proven themselves again and again, I don't think we need to worry.
If it was by Crapcom I'd be worried. It's not by Crapcom so I'm not worried.
I'm confused. Why is this being brought up? This is ND. Not square.
It's just post-traumatic stress associated with the Splinter Cell franchise.
It went from hardcore stealth to Michael Bay action game over night with Conviction.
Thankfully, they eventually saw the light and did up Splinter Cell good with Blacklist.
Now that game needs a remaster.
EDIT: it also happened to Ben with Final Fantasy.
I'd be paranoid too.

I guess because of money.
I'm not sure there's any reason to be Paranoid with this one.
BTW did u get the Dark Below expansion Temjin?
No need for anything like this. If we get a 2, I'm sure they know by now how to make a game.
I agree. However, after playing (and thoroughly enjoying) Uncharted 1, 2, 3 and TLOU, I am confident in Naughty Dog's judgment and their ability to make another fantastic game that I'll love.
Everyone is talking about TLoU2 and I'm just sitting here waiting for TLoU:Remastered. Maybe I'll play the upgraded version four times in a row like the PS3 version.
Interestingly enough, I know I'm getting it because my Amazon app is linked to the mothers account. So it's been tough not knowing what I'm getting for Xmass… It's like I'm five.
yeah i totally agree although some of us have an attention span longer than 10 secs and grew up before mobile games but yeah totally agree
please ND don't make TLOU2 faster and dumber to appese a bunch of idiots who don't know you or you style as a dev repect the small millions who love you for you and lvoe the gritty slower more skill full game that you gave us the 1st time and just make it the same or better cos there is probably a bit of polish you could put on some things to make a bit more smooth but don't change for the masses please don't it would be a major disrespect to your core fan base around here and the rest of the world who apriciate what you do
happy gaming
I agree 100% with you Ben. TLoU needs to keep it's core mechanic. From the online multiplayer side, I think if they have sections or a mode where both competing factions have the added tension of dealing with clicker hordes
Did you had a nightmare Ben? come on! this it's ND they know what their fanbase wants 🙂

I totally agree with you Ben,i mean i'm not against some games being dumb and fast but it's so much that gets dumb and fast these day's,for the most part i like my games to be slow and smart[that's why my avatarname is slow and smart:)
I'm glad i'm not the only one that feels this way.
