Sniper aficionados, pay attention.
CI Games ( Lords of the Fallen ) has announced that Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3 is now "deep in development" and it's coming to the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC in the first half of 2016.
The series has already proven successful, as the first two installments sold over 5.5 million copies. The sequel was a step in the right direction but the franchise still needs a lot more polish and upgrading, which is precisely what CI Games should deliver. They're calling this their "first AAA production effort" and CEO Mark Tyminski says they're "fully committed to creating a AAA franchise that gamers can rely on for the ultimate first-person sniper experience."
The setting will be a modern-day war in Eastern Europe and the gameplay will obviously focus on long-range precision. However, there will be a chance to execute close-up melee attacks if the situation calls for it. As for the structure, the developers are going to offer a "non-linear, sandbox-style," which will be very different from the very linear adventure in Ghost Warrior 2 .
