DmC: Devil May Cry Definitive Edition Confirmed, Detailed

These Definitive Editions just keep coming, but they give those who missed out (and die-hard fans) incentive to play.

Ninja Theory has announced the DmC: Devil May Cry Definitive Edition, which will hit the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on March 17. Boasting 60 frames per second, 1080p resolution, a bunch of content and "uprezzed graphics" (textures, characters and cinematics), this is indeed "definitive."

You can check out all the pertinent details if you like; we're getting a great package for $39.99. There's the return of Turbo Mode (the game runs 20 percent faster) along with Hardcore Mode, which is a "throwback to the classic Devil May Cry games in terms of balance." It's gonna be a lot harder if you choose this! They're also including a Manual Target Lock, Vergil Bloody Palace Mode (with 60 levels and a playable Vergil!), and Must Style Mode, another hardcore modifier that forces players to achieve an S rank or higher to deal any damage at all.

So cool.

Cool.
I like how the very first bullet point they put up during the trailer is "60 FPS"
That'll shut 'em up.

Woah, I think I will actually pick this up. I was waiting for them to release something like this and knowing how capcom is I knew it would come sooner or later.

I loved DMC3 hopefully the retuning makes it more like that game.

I snagged the complete DMC set on Steam some months back for like $8 or $10. It runs at 60fps and 1080p.

While it doesn't have these newer tweaks I can't yet justify buying this until I at least play through the one I own.

*Facepalm* More remastered games. So the main reason to get a PS4/Xbone is to play…more remastered titles. I already have a gaming PC, played these games in thier 60fps remastered state before the ps4 was even released, so only 2 games JUST 2 games uncharted 4 (hopefully out in 2014) and bloodborne coming out this year worth playing that I will get for ps4. If any game deserves a remaster in 1080p 60fps on PS4 its Killzone 2. Nuff said.

I wonder if texture resolution/detail have been increased. I did buy this for PC, but thought it looked dated. Despite running above 1080p,the game looked like a crippled console port. Disabled vsync and could run it at 120hz at 1080p… Just under 90 at 1440p… Definitely NOT pushing the PC at all.

Anywho, back to my original question. 🙂

your monitor supports 120 hz?

Yep. Had a decent TN 120hz, but traded a buddy for a 840PRO 512 + cash. My 7950 (Sapphire on the 7970 reference board) just chugs too much to take advantage of it. Given most developers don't care to allow 120hz just made me miserable. Modifying config files more than I spent time gaming. Wasn't really viewing at 1440p as it was a 1080p monitor. Downsampling the GPU 1440p>1080p with 2x SMAA.

60 FPS on this game is gonna make a big difference, I could feel the sluggishness at 30 versus the other DMC games. I'm gettin it.

Looks like they're doing a test to see which sells better of DMC4 or DmC and the winner gets a sequel.I'll be ready summer 2015 to buy multiple copies :}

I didn't even know DmC on PS3 and Xbox wasn't 30fps. Damn, not looking forward to starting it, with this news 😛

The 7th generation is doing one hell of an Angus Scrimm impression. "It's never over."

They also announced Devil May Cry 4 Special Edition for those who like the old school cooler Dante. 🙂

I hope they make Trish or Lady playable, that for me would make Capcom's decision of making you play the game twice forgivable.

I hope we get a Devil May Cry V. 4 while not the peak of the series by any means left the chance for a brilliant sequel with the characters who are left in the DMC office at the end. I'd love a game with them 3 characters. The reboot never really caught my attention, I played a demo and wasn't fond of it or its street punk style.

sigh.
really?
nah, who wants a all new DMC built from the ground up to demonstrate what these new consoles can do when we can have last years disappointment, and one of last generations biggest disappointments, oh but with a new coat of varnish on top!
sigh, seriously, why did i piss away 1000+ bucks on that ugly doorstop!?
knew i should of sold it, in the heat of sellouts people were paying over a grand for them on launch off ebay!
hell I'm getting more use out of my f*cking vita than my ps4!
