Okay, so you've probably heard that Bungie plans to make a second Destiny .
But you're saying to yourself: "Wait, this is kinda like an MMO…and if they release a second whole game, do I have to start over?"
The answer to that is "no." According to what Bungie community manager David "DeeJ" Dague told IGN , your current character progress will indeed carry over to the sequel:
"The idea is that the Guardian you have created is something you can bring along with you on that adventure. If you take a look at the way people have played other games for a long period of time, they've had a relationship with the same character for a very long time."
He didn't say much else about the impending project but that's okay. It's a relief for avid Destiny players to know that all their hard work won't be shelved if they want to play the sequel. As far as I'm concerned, I get the feeling the "sequel" will basically be a big expansion that the publisher can package up and sell for another $60. Tell me I'm wrong, Activision.
Related Game(s): Destiny
So much for a 10 year life span, 3 months after release and they're already talking about the sequel.
How long until this is another annualized series?
IGN asked about a sequel. All Bungie could confirm is that you're character can port and the game is in development.
Reporters are excited about the future of hot games. This isn't validation that we're getting Destiny 2 in 2015.

The 10-year lifespan was for the game/franchise. Not the game versions. Like StarCraft II and Borderlands, which can technically have several iterations of the core game within a span of several years. The only difference, in this case, is that we (might) get to keep our character stats or items.
A more insuring report to me would be that they're just focused on the current game, not that they're already in progress for their next one. The fact they're in progress tells me the current wouldn't last too long till it gets outdated and overshadowed by the new one.
If that's really what they meant then wow. 10 years of 60 dollar games, and 20 dollar expansion packs every two or so months to keep up with it. And I thought online subscription games were expensive. Thank goodness my favorite all time franchise GT doesn't go this route. It's one game that actually expand and get better without having to worry about expansion pack fees. The way GT6 grew, PD could've made serious dough.
WTF? It's supposed to be one game that grows forever. These people are retarded. Shoulda known though with Activision in charge.
Quoting an article here: "When the creator of Halo, Bungie, officially announced Destiny two years ago, it did not reveal a single game, it revealed a ten-year plan. According to the studioâs contract with Activision (which was revealed in full online due to the publisherâs legal battle with ex-Infinity Ward developers, Vince Zampanella and Jason West), the development team committed to at least a decade on the project". – from The Guardian (http://www.theguardian.com/technology/2014/sep/15/destiny-the-next-ten-years)
By releasing a whole new title it allows them to redo anything they want engine, content, and gameplay wise. I don't think of Mass Effect 2 or 3 as an expansion pack just because I could port my character into it's sequels.

Apples and bananas my friend, besides it doesn't match their previous rhetoric.
huh?
This game was supposed to be revolutionary. An epitome of a game that would offer unlimited potential. A game that would expand and grow for at least 10 years. Mass Effect is a standard single player game with set storyline, mechanics, and gameplay. It's not a Community or online driven game that can expand and be as dynamic as Destiny.
If the game is going to be releasing sequels like normal standard games, then what would make this different than other shooters? It's bad enough they're basically going to be raping people with 20 dollar dlc every two or so months, totaling to probably well over 400 in its lifetime. Then after that, a news sequel? If this is the future to gaming heck no. If they're going to be releasing sequels, why bother releasing so many dlc in between? All that effort can be used to make the sequel. Why not just make a game that wouldn't require so MANY expansion and just have a bunch packaged at launch?
I'm sorry for people that don't see the greed in this one. Well to me at least. I'm not even knocking on the game but this practice is ridiculous imo.
I would argue this, because believe me it can, but I don't want to spend the time. Just be angry and mad about a game that you probably weren't going to like anyway. I really don't care.
All we know is that Destiny has a sequel and the game lets you port your old character. So little info and yet here gamers are going ape crap. THis might as well be Ferguson Missouri. What's new?

Have put 100 hours into Destiny so I have got my moneys worth.
My only concern is that as someone who can only put in a finite amount of time into any game, I feel that I am falling behind and a lot of the DLC and new stuff may be aimed for the hard core level 30s or eventual level 32s. There may not be too much out there for my lowly level 28 hunter.
Also, for the love of all that is holy in the world, matchmaking for the daily and weekly strikes please! I understand if you want to keep the raids teamed up, but I can't understand the logic for the strikes.
I'm at 60+ or so hours. It's likely my personal goty.
well thats always good that you don't lose anything cos that always sucks
happy gaming
