And yet, if you really think about it, can you imagine this holiday season if everything originally scheduled to arrive had actually launched?
Look, we've already got a bunch of games for the holiday season and many of them are massive . Dragon Age: Inquisition , two full Assassin's Creed entries, Far Cry 4 , Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare , Destiny , LittleBigPlanet 3 , and Grand Theft Auto V for PS4 and Xbox One…yeah, there are countless hours of gameplay there, and that's hardly all the games currently available.
We know the titles that got pushed into 2015. Sure, it sucked to lose The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt , Batman: Arkham Knight , The Order: 1886 , Evolve and Battlefield: Hardline . But even if all these titles had released this year – and they would've all hit store shelves in the fourth quarter – how the hell would you have been able to play them all? This is precisely why whenever I hear about delays, the news is actually somewhat comforting. "Gee, maybe I won't be so far behind," is what I say to myself.
Honestly, I'm glad these delays happened.
I'm right there with you Ben. Being an older game it's possible to have too much of a good thing. I waited for GTAV to release on the PS4 and I still have PS3 games that need to be finished. There are plenty of next gen games to enjoy this holiday.
I plan on putting 200+ hours into Dragon Age right after I put 200 into GTAV.
1hr in GTA, STOP!
1hr in DA, STOP!
Repeat.
400 hours later – 200 hours in GTA, 200 hours in DA. Can't explain that.

Yeah every year it's harder to keep up, and these games just happen to be the ones you can't happily put away after 8 hours.
The current trends mean gigantic games or massive multiplayer and less need for multiple huge releases at the same time.
What I never will get, is how some seem to be of the opinion that there are no other option than to play ALL games the SECOND they are released, and are raging on the internet about release schedules clustering up some months while leaving others thin and how that does not match their time schedule.
I mean… Come on. What on earth is lost by waiting with a purchase until you are done with the current <whatever you are spending time on>? Do they disappear from the market again? Are your machine suddenly unable to play it? Do they deteriorate like bread fresh from the oven?
No. Nothing happens, of course. The only consequence with waiting is to save quite a few bucks over time.

Well in the case of multiplayer games, it sucks being far behind the day 1 adopters. If you get the games a few months after release, the early birds learn the maps, choke points and get the best gear. And you start fresh and get blasted…that dampens rhe fun factor for me.
Yeah true – that's a good exception. But often the whiners talk about games with a primary focus on single player campaigns, and that's just so… Dumb!
It's like *having* to see a movie on premiere day and complaining about overlapping premieres. Imo it really is that stupid.

Aye, I play most of my single-player campaigns well after release – the only exceptions are 'niche' titles that I try and support at release, like the recent Sherlock Holmes game.

I'm taking my time with GTAV only, until maybe Bloodborne.
Delays r OK if the games good when it does release but when its still messed up n needs several patches to be playable I'd say u should a delayed an it longer

I'm completely fine with the delays. I'm going to be just barely wrapping up all the great 2014 releases I really want to play by the time the next wave starts to hit in February or so. So many great releases on the horizon, and so many great ones out now. PS4 is really on a roll right now.
I wondered what is happening to our social and family life if we really did spend so much time on gaming?
In S.Korea, there are many extremes cases where the parents are pro-gamers, neglected and failed to feed their babies. The children starved and died of malnutrition.
Advice to all: Please place your priorities right and game responsibly.
Have Destiny, GTA V, Killzone and Tomb Raider on the PS4 all going plus Alien Isolation on the PS3.
It is hard with so many excellent games to know which one to put my gaming time into. The problem for me has never been a lack of games, but always a lack of time to play them.
By the time I play through one something new and shiny comes along and I trade the others in to pay for the new one almost unplayed. Tragic.
