Free is good.
Nobody likes a multiplayer game where a bunch of maps are unavailable because they didn't pay extra for them.
Evolve developer Turtle Rock Studios understands this, which is why creative director Phil Robb told IGN that all the DLC maps for the game will be delivered free of charge:
"One of the things we've been really careful about is that for our DLC plans, we've approached it as consumers, what [Design Director Chris Ashton] and I feel good about as consumers. The first thing we said is we can't break the community up. All of our maps will be free, we never want anyone to get booted off a server because they haven't bought something. That sucks."
This doesn't mean all DLC will be free, as the team plans to deliver new monsters and hunters as well, and those will come with a fee. However, Robb clarified that even if you don't purchase new monsters, you can still play against them with friends. As for hunters, yeah, you'll have to buy to use. Still, it's nice to see that all the new maps will be free, so you can remain totally in the loop.
Evolve was originally set for this year but was then delayed to February 10, 2015.

Hats off to Turtle Rock Studios for doing this! I am tired of playing online games and having the experience being so isolating – I joining one game and the host moves to a map I don't have and I'm kicked… utterly tired of that. I'm genuinely impressed. If more online games were like this I'd pay for a PS+ account.
Bioware did this with Mass Effect 3, Guerrilla did it with KZ Shadowfall and now they are doing it. It's a very intelligent thing for them to do in order to not split up communities. Keeps it fun and fair for everyone.
Maps should never be charged for. On the PC maps were always free until Activision realized you could charge people on consoles for them. Then it made its way on to the PC.
Some of the best maps in the original Modern Warfare were fan made, same with Counter strike, and Unreal tournament.
Lets hope they keep doing this
now we have yet another dev giving us free DLC isn't this a nice note to end the year on free DLC for two big games you know we can't really have a better way to end of the year i reckon
happy gaming
