PlayStation 4 update 2.00 added a bunch of really great features, but it also caused problems.
In a recent VG24/7 interview , SCE Australia managing director Michael Ephraim says these issues were "very unfortunate" but adds that the new console isn't "bulletproof."
" Listen: we’re really, really apologetic. Dealing with network and digital–I'm not trying to spread or deflect anything, but dealing on such a robust network is a tricky experience. The good thing is we've launched 2.01, which has fixed the Rest Mode, and has fixed the YouTube app.
It was very unfortunate. We hate that. The network was down during the 2.0 release. It's very unfortunate. Those things are gonna happen over time. We're not bulletproof on those things. "
Ephraim noted that the PS4's initial success has been offset by a struggling Network. Sony has already said they've been surprised at PS4 sales thus far (13.5 million worldwide) and that load has proven difficult for the PSN to handle. Update 2.00 not only caused the Rest Mode bug, but it also caused problems for critics trying to review Dragon Age: Inquisition .
The good news is that these issues have been resolved; when the latter title drops next week, players shouldn't have a problem, and the Rest bug is gone, too (thanks to update 2.01). Update 2.02 should've repaired the other stability issues.
I thought 2.02 was intended to fix DA? I'm glad that Sony is acknowledging the "shortcomings" with the PS4. Personally, I haven't lost any sleep over the matters. Then again, I find that my PS4 rarely gets any use *probably* has a lot to do with it.
That said, rest mode worked fine. I'm updated, but never downloaded the YouTube app. Found it peculiar that, at the time of my update, there wasn't an app available.
Sony needs better execution for the sake of the consumers. It wouldn't hurt to be more transparent regarding "stability" updates in the form of a legitimate changelog. Maybe a continuously updated PSN servers counter would help consumers recognize development and expansion of PSN.
It's the small business decisions that lead to grassroots loyalists that appreciate being in the loop, ya know?
Of course, if such ideas never come to fruition, practically no harm will result. Sony knows what it's weakness is (unlike the bizarre state of XB1) and are better off exploiting it themselves rather than at the hands of competitors.
If they reveal all the small details of a stability update the hackers will have a field day. That'd be like telling everyone everytime you changed your password or housekey. For those experienced enough to bother, it'd be nothing to make an image of what existed then wait for an update and see what's changed.
That's silly. I'm not insinuating it should be spelled out. A simple "security update" would suffice. Plenty of OS have security updates that spell out what it's doing and blocking. The world hasn't gone down in flames from it.
It's almost like they don't test this stuff.
It's anyone else having audio problems since 2.0
No audio issues though the console sometimes freezes when I try and access the theme settings.
He sounds annoyed at having to apologize. The stability of the PS4 OS was pretty atrocious. I say was because after 2.02 I haven't had any crashes though I stiil get the occasional temporary lock up when navigating certain menus or features. Only to unlock when I turn on a different controller which prompts me to login again.

I don't know anyone that experienced issues except those on the internet. Safe to say it's unfortunate for some but probably not that big of a deal.
so basically – sorry, but shit happens, deal with it…
What they need to fix is the laggy messaging system. I receive the notice I have a message and it doesn't show up for minutes sometimes hours later. I even get the notice on my phone and the same lag happens. That is the most annoying thing. It makes it almost impossible to communicate outside of voice chat
I personally didn't have too many problems. The worst I came across was a wonky sleep mode. Still, I demand a bunch of free shit right NOW!
