2014 has been a difficult year from a review standpoint.
Some of the biggest titles haven't lived up to expectations, at least from a score perspective. Destiny , inFamous: Second Son , Watch Dogs and even the massively hyped Titanfall couldn't break the coveted 9+ threshold as an average Metascore.
So, the question should be obvious: Will the next huge release disappoint critics again, or will it soar high? One could actually argue that Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare was the first high-profile 2014 title that actually delivered. Most reviewers and gamers really seem to like it, right? Well, maybe Assassin's Creed Unity can continue the upswing. We're already seeing solid reviews for Rogue , so shouldn't it stand to reason that Unity – specifically designed for the new consoles and PC – will be even better…?
I can't say anything about it just yet, but we're mere hours from seeing reviews hit the Internet. I'm just wondering what people are anticipating. The year has been so up-and-down that it's difficult to know what to expect.
On a mega pc, the game runs at 25fps. So obviously the PC gamers arent happy. Wonder what itll run on consoles.
Rogue is way more interesting and should have been the real next gen title. Without the boat stuff, but the story itself is very cool and interesting and dare i say….new.
Assassins Creed is tired, it wants to sleep.
I'll pass on this. I'm still pissed about their statements. All this Xbox1 advertising only reinforces its shitty stab at the Sony crowd… And don't get me started on the PC specs.
I'm ashamed to have ever supported this franchise. Bunch of spineless, money hungry, assholes.
110% truth. The sooner companies like Ubisoft are gone, the better.
Meh. Ubisoft is one of the few more consistent publishers. Also, they're a business. Get over it.
That's exactly the kind of attitude that allows these companies to get away with all the bs that goes on lately.
All this Xbox One advertising?
Honestly, who cares? Up until now, Assassin's Creed has been marketed more on the PlayStation consoles, with exclusive content. This is the first and so far only time Xbox has actually had the marketing advantage with this franchise.
Seriously, who cares? It's just a game, and a fun one at that.
Don't get any of this. Ubisoft has been on the side of PlayStation for most of the past five years. That's why Assassin's Creed has almost always had PlayStation-exclusive content, and why the last few games have run better on PS4 (Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, Watch Dogs).
Play BF on a PC. the game deletes saved games at random. It runs like complete crap. There are gamers with top tier cards getting frame tearing, frame drops, and rogue polygons.
Now, it's expected to require a PC easily 10x more powerful than an xb1 to run it. OK, 10x might be downplaying the matter.
A 2 second Google search will place you face first with the crap people are experiencing.
Here's the deal – it's not being given away for free. If it runs like a beta and feels like a beta, then it's gotta be a really horrific joke on the fans of the series.
I'll be the first to tell you that I absolutely love the series. This crap, however, needs to be met with harsh words and important actions.
My comment about the Xbox stuff is solely based on what I see when I watch TV. Nothing more.

I should add that the PC would have been my outlet to escape the 30fps threshold. I am not excited about the cap as it really ruins controls for me. Graphically, it's not the end of the world. Control lag is flat out aggravating. Perhaps it's a matter of preference. I notice the difference in ANY game that is modified to run higher fps.
I'll accept the dispute about it being meant to look good at 30fps and that's a valid possibility. However, there's nothing short of increasing framerate to reduce input lag.
In a game where you're running tight ropes and jumping off of rooftops, it seriously matters to me.

And yet according to DIGITAL FOUNDRY'S Unity analysis recently released, the Xbone version of Unity runs better than the PS4 version.
That's right, you read that right. Unity runs with a better fps on the Xbone.
It's obvious that the game was poorly optimized on the PS4. There is absolutely no reason why it should run worse than the X1 version.

What's worse is most of the frame drops are unexpectedly occurring due to processing issues.
It must have taken the WHOLE team to get the game running at 30fps on the xbone and neglected to give the PS4 and PC any attention.

Assassins Creed will always be a NINE out of ten in my eyes. Great series I enjoy very much.
MS paid Ubiscum to gimp the PS4 version and Ubiscum obliged. I hope the game is a critical and commercial failure of epic proportions.
Show me proof like a receipt
I don't have to show anything. There's enough proof out there, but if you want to pretend like there's nothing fishy going on behind the scenes, that absolutely fine. I wish I lived in a world of blue skies and rainbows where everything was perfect, everybody got along and giant corporations that pull bs like Sony, MS and even Nintendo have, didn't exist, but that's simply not the case.
The game doesn't run well on either consoles. Maybe it is just poor optimization.
They don't run well on either console because MS paid Ubisoft to do that, too. I'm sure MS also paid them to make the PC version not run as well, either. Heck, I wouldn't be surprised if some of the issues that came out with PS4 update 2.0 were because MS gave them a pile of cash.
Fanatics always scare me. It's just… Ugly.
me 2
damn i thought only cod had their little hate group, which one of you actually played or has the game and isn't just talking out of your ass? And microsoft paid a company to make a game worse on another console, are you like 10 or retarded? Has any game in this franchise scored below an 8?
"Show me proof like a receipt"
^^^ Go to eurogamer and read Digital Foundry's analysis of both the PS4 and X1 versions of Unity.
The X1 version runs better.
Even the guys at DF were surprised at the results.
Sure the X1 version runs better… but not by enough
It will depend on if the old fans in the reviewing populace like any changes in the movement and fighting gameplay or especially dislike them.
Otherwise the series seems pretty strong for one that's more common than a Kardashian.
Probably another letdown, still no reviews while i'm writing this….
12pm est
As I already wrote in another topic – the more they brag about their game, the less I believe it will deliver.
I decided to wait for reviews, see some YT gameplay and opinions before I will buy. Not that I'm dying for this game when GTA5 is week away.

probably another 2014 letdown.
only game i can see living up to the hype is FC4.
3 was such a masterpiece, and this looks to simply expand on everything that made 3 so great.
Who cares? It is soon time for inquisition! And I read it will take MONTHS to blast through the entire game.
Want to get them both, but think will have to leave inquisition for now – will destroy any chance of getting a good grade in my degree!
After playing it for a bit. I hope the day one patch fixes some major issues. Framerate, pop in, characters morphing in from the sky, clipping. This game looks so incomplete in places. Glad I didn't purchase it and got it as a gift. I would be so pissed at this.
All the PR (read damage control) that Ubisoft has been releasing the past few weeks are now making them look foolish. Parity between the PS4 and XBO to "avoid debate"? AC: Unity using "every ounce of power" of both consoles? Right…
Those who already played the game are saying that it is riddled with technical issues. The game could hardly maintain a stable 30fps frame rate and pop-in issues are atrocious. Makes one wonder what exactly happened in this game when AC4 was technically sound. I appreciate that they were ambitious about the game but they probably overreached on this one.
As much as Assassin's Creed was among my favorite franchises from the previous generation, I can't really get myself to buy this game right now. I'm going to buy Dragon Age: Inquisition first and play AC: Unity some other time. Maybe when all the issues were fixed or when the "complete edition" is already released.
I actually am looking forward to Unity. I watched an hour of the game and honestly, the story might be interesting (Though Im only interested in Arno`s relationship with Elise; its like Romeo and Juliet except with Assassins and Templars!). The parry system is a welcome so does the non-regenerative health but the 5000 NPCs crowding the street is kinda excessive, they should have put more focus on the NPC`s path-finding and the clippings. I watched Ubisoft representative playing the game and the host showed a considerable amount of restraint not to say anything when Arno passed through a signboard (and some animation glitches) and on the video I watched, I get to see an NPC walking pass through a character…And that was during a cutscene..
30fps for a "next gen" game = letdown. 60fps with an option for 30fps like in the Last of Us Remastered should be the standard for all these "next gen" games.
Full and complete agreement, if some B game can only get to 30fps fine but AAA should have better standards now.
Especially since we were told that next gen meant 1080p/60fps. So far it's been hit or miss on the PS4. If that was supposed to be the standard for next gen the Wii U is the most next geny console this gen. ;P
I'd say it's another UBISOFT letdown. I liked Second Son and Titanfall.
yeah logic is right on the money but you won't know till the game comes out rogue could be better at launch if ubi stuffs up unitys launch but i'd like to say the game will be good they've showed us now less than a good game until now so i'd expect it to get resonable scores
happy gaming
