It still isn't official but it may as well be. BioWare keeps talking about it.
BioWare Edmonton general manager Aaryn Flynn has asked Mass Effect fans about their wish list, as it would pertain to a trilogy remake for next-gen consoles.
He got the ball rolling in the NeoGAF forums , posting up his own priority list for a three-pronged package of greatness:
Flynn also wants this trilogy to be a "seamless experience," so a player can go right through without transferring save files. As for the idea of implementing the newer combat mechanics from Mass Effect 3 into the original title, that probably won't happen. Said Flynn:
"First it would be a helluva lot of work. Second, I hate the idea of us being accused of 'retconning' ME1. Third (and I bet everyone on NeoGAF knows this), there are those who prefer ME1… So given that all that, it doesn't feel like the right thing to do."
What do you want to see in this trilogy remake?
First off, all Mass Effect games must have NOT ONLY 1080p 'n 60 fps but ALSO new graphics for all 3 games not just only ME1 but all 3 it's important also 3D all 3 again and of course all packaged on a collector's with 400 pages artbook, making of and soundtracks you know for all of us who didn't manage to get the collector's

How about removing the senseless mining in ME2? It added hours to the game, but it was really lame and could have been done better.
Agree. I'm sure BioWare could come up with a more fun way to gather elements without that overlong mini-game.
That was the best they could do to make it SEEM like it had RPG roots without troubling the idiots they needed to attract to make bigger money.
Noooo I *loved* mining! Seriously, I did! I was so disappointed to find nothing like it was there in ME3.

I don't want to see a remake/upgrade/definitive editon or anything similar.
How about ME4?
I played the trilogy already, not really much incentive to pick this up again, unless they go the way GTA 5 did and overhauled everything and added a lot more content.
I can't see this appealing to anyone outside of gamers who missed it last gen. From his "list" looks like all bioware wants to do is give it a new coat of paint and call it a day. GTA 5 set the bar high for remakes, and previous remakes like TLOU, MGS collection and TR: Definitive Edition don't cut it anymore.
Not saying those games weren't nice, but these constant remakes are becoming annoying and nothing more than a lazy attempt at generating new revenue with minimal effort. That time and attention should be spent on new games.

Plus, the fiasco over ME3's ending would most likely turn original players off. Atleast for me it does…
It's probably too much to ask for them to totally redo the end of ME3 starting at the priority earth mission. If they did that I would definitely buy this remake.
Bioware, no remakes. I love the series, but I would rather you guys throw that money, time and resource into delivering a next gen sequel.
But if it just HAS to be done, I say add more contrast in the romance options since at this point Its something important in a Bioware game. Like after frog man dies, have the femshep have some kind of emotional break down if that was the romance choice. Cause it feels plastered on, and from a story perspective, it makes the entire thing feel pointless.
Also, better face customization. Nothing ruins immersion more than when trying to put yourself in the game, and you come out looking like a pale squished face guy. And I mean eyes, nose, hair,
chin, cheeks, mouth and again, hair. I'm probably in the lower common denominator who spends a long time making my characters look like myself, or just make them look decent.
Sure, I could live without it but its the little things that would make me happy to rebuy the trilogy.
Are some game developers playing it safe by spending time and resources on old titles instead of new ones? Perhaps.
Is there a lack of creativity? Probably not.
I enjoyed ME2 and ME3 very much, but buying it again with slightly new visuals? Hell no. I am speaking for myself here so don't take offense please.
There's plenty of new stuff to play.

A complete seamless experience sounds pretty freaking cool. One series I wouldn't complain about a current-gen remake.
What's retcon?
'Retroactive continuity':
I think it usually refers to a narrative, specifically when an established fact of a story is changed afterwards in order to match a new plot point.
Oh man I hate that. It has to be used very carefully and tactfully if ever done.
Oh retcon, like one example being used to some extent throughout the X-Men movie series? =P Now I have all of them except the newest, Days of Future Past which is not yet a part of my collection, so am indeed very much a fan. Another example is the original Evil Dead trilogy. I thought it to be a technique used in comics fairly often, and other mediums, such as certain movies, books and games. It's probably used a lot more then perceived.
That it doesnt suck would be my suggestion.
Haha, an ending that makes sense and had internal consistency with the rest of their storytelling would be my request ;).

A hero lives ending would be awesome.
I always wanted to replay the trilogy as renegade.
Im into this i would buy this great series again.. iam playing the trilogy now on ps3 as a vanguard fem shep..
I couldn't play the series again. So i wouldn't buy it. It was fantastic, don't get me wrong. I totally swallowed my own words because I wasn't ever impressed with what I had seen. Until I played them.
But I never played ME1 and I never will. I'm happy with the way my character and story turned out. Based on everything I know about the game I wouldn't change a thing. Unfortunately the PS3 didn't see ME1 forever, and the idea of my story changing by me playing ME1 and the decisions I might make affecting outcomes in 2 and 3 bothers me.
I've moved on but it will always be one of my favorites.
Do something about the load times! I couldn't finish ME1 because of the load screen, and the amount of time wasted. ME2's loading wasn't any better, so much so I never even touched ME3.
If the game can be loaded onto the hard drive, why can't it play seamlessly without loading every 3 seconds?
Not interested. Wake me up when the beginning of the next trilogy is here.
