Okay, so they haven't spilled the beans yet. They just announced a bunch of games on tap for the event, and nobody is shocked.
But if you really think about it, this could – and should – surpass Sony's E3 2014 showing.
The confirmed titles alone make it a contender for one of the best conferences of the year, and if the rumors are true and Sony unveils a few new PS4 exclusives, it's gonna be epic . I think it's interesting that Sony is pushing this event so hard; they've called it "massive" and they're obviously not pulling any punches. Just about every major upcoming game for their new console might be on display, and that could include brand new projects we've never heard about before.
It almost makes me wonder if this is designed to keep PS4 interest high throughout the holiday season. Remember, they don't really have a high-profile exclusive to help push the new system over the next few months. There's LittleBigPlanet 3 but that doesn't really have the necessary firepower (and don't forget that it's also on PS3). The Xbox One, on the other hand, has Sunset Overdrive and a few others, so one could argue that Microsoft has the holiday edge. Not to mention that recently announced price cut.
But even if Sony is using this as more of a marketing ploy, so what? It could be absolutely incredible!
Bold statement, but I think that it's not going to come true unless they have a couple of huge, exciting unannounced games. The gameplay debut of Uncharted 4, alongside new footage of The Order, Bloodborne, and Until Dawn is exciting stuff, but we're really still waiting to see what is going to pad out Sony's 2015 slate. Right now, we can safely guess that 1886 and Bloodborne are early year, Until Dawn is mid-year and UC4 is holiday blockbuster, but that really isn't much.
We need at least one more game for mid-year and two more for the holidays (in my opinion), and while I don't want Sony to show all of their cards in one go, some insight on what to look forward to would be great.
That being said, this PlayStation Experience thing is definitely a marketing ploy. The company knows that it is going into the holidays in the weaker position when compared to MS (in terms of available titles), and there are a lot of people saying that MS long-term line-up is currently looking better. Sony wants to try to prove those naysayers wrong by reminding them that PS has always been home to the best exclusives, even though they're currently looking weaker.
I don't think they will announce another Holiday game though. It's way too close to X-Mas.
For next year?
I just wanted to add that I really can't believe how much hype is being built around this event already. It's still more than a month away; it is a showcase for a single platform holder, and yet it is being touted as such a massive event. It is going to be really difficult for Sony to live up to expectations on this one, so they really need to wheel out their big guns.
Except they have tons of developers there. It isn't just a "sony" event. They are going to showcase every game coming to playstation platforms. They are in the best of positions right now compared to microsoft that are struggling currently.
I'm most looking forward to Guerrilla Games RPG-thing, I think it could be the star of the show. Hoping for more announcements too.
But yeah this event should get the presses rolling on PS4 through a continuing dry period. I'm still awaiting the greatness over by here.
That's quite frankly the only ps4 exclusive we are aware of today that tickles my curiosity.
No love for Wild any more, Beam?
Kid,
Wild? What? 😀
Ancel's WiLD. I thought you were digging that.
Ahhh – I even had to Google that one, had totally forgotten about it!
Yeah, true, WiLD looks interesting indeed. Need to see more, but yeah. Man you got the memory of an elephant.
Diversionary tactic – attract attention away from Xbox1
haha! Love your avatar pic! 🙂
I expect Uncharted 4 to blow people away with it's graphics.
I caught wind that the game is using a lighting tech that is after the manner of what Tim Sweeney and Epic games proposed years ago. They said however it wasn't possible on something less than 2.5 TFLOPS of GPU power. SOmething the PS4 isn't. It seems Naughty Dog not only figured out how to do it, but do it at 60fps. Hence the reason ND rejoiced publicly that their devs were "from the moon" suggesting they did what would have been thought to be impossible.
Evidence of this in a video with the "Tommorow Children" dev. They revealed the lighting tech behind that game was built off of what Naughty Dog built for Uncharted 4.
This tech will offer lighting that will blow the crap out of PS3 games. Really, it'll make Uncharted's of the past look cartoonish and fake compared to what they'll show. Just watch.
I'm trying to keep my expectations in check and not get too excited, but man, I'm really looking forward to Naughty Dog's next adventure!
It'll be impressive because it'll so much better than what we're used to.
man. gotta say. I reluctantly ejected my Destiny disk tonight and placed in TLoU. "yea, maybe I should try to play this some more. It's like Halloween'ish to play and all" I thought.
Man, wow, what a game great game haha!
It makes me realize how much of a blackhole Destiny can be. The feeling of not endlessly grinding away to build stats vaporized while playing TLoU. I'm almost thinking I'll hold off on the Destiny expansions for a while so I can properly recover.
sweet!
Only if The Last Guardian shows up.

So, this may be a dumb question, but why would Sony do something in December that would surpass what they did at E3? And Gamescom…and TGS.
I mean, *all* eyes are on those big trade shows so it really behoves them to bring everything they got. Will this event get that level of attention from people that aren't already paying attention?
I mean, I'm REALLY looking forward to what they have to show, I'm just curious is all.
I hope this is significant for another reason – that a tremendous amount of progress can be made in a short enough time that there would be this much new stuff to show the public only 5 months later.
I hope they show persona 5 footage. That's the #1 ps4 title in looking forward to. It still blows my mind that they went an entire generation without a true persona sequel
Maybe they'll show a tech demo of the new 4k TV w a ps4 running at 120 fps lmfao
I think Sony should just match the Xbox one price drop over the holidays and really blow Microsoft out of the water. That way all the new game announcements will just be icing on the cake 🙂
Best idea, really.
Hype train leaves the station.
But I'm not in it. F*ck that, I've been cheated to many times by Sony to be excited.
Don't get me wrong, I love my PS4 with all the lineup games it's getting but it's hard for me to be excited about something that is more then a month away and even not sure what it will be. 95% of people are expecting some games announcements but it might be something completly different. Just saying.
Sorry for the pesimistic post:)
Socom is coming back. H-HOUR
My wish list of games so 3 new games are supposedly to be announced.
My list.
1 Guraillagames RPG
2 The Last guarden
3 Agent
The games well be instead. Gurailla games RPG. And two inde crap games
Never heard of them. What are those?
sigh, here we go again!
journalists hyping things up to the second coming, then it ends up being nothing but playstation all stars battle royal 2!
maybe, just maybe, if everything was not hyped up as the second coming then everything would not be such a disappointment!
Bens been hacked?
No. All it does is justify my banning of certain people.
If it wasnt for Destiny I would have sold my PS4.
How do they make this game without a pop up map?
Just a reminder…this is a "paid show". Id like to go but it's against my standards. I don't pay for advertising unless it makes me money.
