The Battlefield After Hardline Won’t Launch Until Late 2016

Maybe the entire Battlefield schedule got pushed when Hardline was delayed.

During a conference call with Electronic Arts investors (as cited by GameSpot ), CEO Andrew Wilson revealed that the Battlefield project beyond Hardline won't launch until the end of 2016.

As Wilson explained:

"As a result of the extended services and content updates that we provide, it's clear that players want to experience the games we're delivering for longer periods of time. Looking into next year, we will ensure that our players have enough time between releases to fully explore the depth and innovation in our shooter titles."

Hardline won't make it now until March, despite the initial launch window of Fall 2014, and now the next entry won't be ready until "Q3 FY17," which translates to the holiday season for 2016. Well, that's all right. I'm sure we'll have plenty of shooters to tide us over in the meantime. It's not like there's any shortage.

I'll pass on Hardline. The Beta left a bad taste in my mouth, as it felt more like a mod than a separate game on it's own. I'm anxiously awaiting Battlefront instead.
