Okay, space cadets, pay attention.
Video games set in outer space will never disappear. Now, here's one from developer Double Damage Games that should appeal to space and sci-fi lovers everywhere.
It's called Rebel Galaxy and as revealed over at the PlayStation Blog , it's described as a "swashbuckling space game," filled with crazy aliens, lawless pirates and of course, "epic space battles."
This isn't about a super-slick sophisticated future; this is a "greasy, rusty place on the edge of the known universe," which actually reminds me a lot of "Firefly." The game will feature a sandbox, open-world format and you can play as any character you choose. If you'd like to be a merciless bounty hunter, go for it; if you'd rather be a sly trader or a "roguish do-gooder," that's your choice. And yes, you'll fly the ships and control the combat.
Double Damage admits that mapping all the necessary commands to a gamepad is a challenge, but they wanted to give you a large variety of weapons and options. The bottom line is that it'll be a blend between action, strategy, adventure and role-playing, and that could be way too cool to ignore. And there's some top-tier talent behind this project as well, so here's hoping it comes out nicely.
Rebel Galaxy is loosely scheduled to hit PlayStation 4 in 2015.

I like the look of this, something a little bit different from your everyday, exactly the kind of stuff we want the indie wave to be bringing :).
I'd give anything that has space in it a try.
It sounds a little bit like Rogue Galaxy?
