It's not here yet but Sony is really talking it up.
Firmware update 2.00 for the PlayStation 4 will greatly enhance the system's capability and appeal, as indicated by a new preview posted over at the PlayStation Blog .
First up is the ability to listen to your own music when playing games. You just load the music onto a USB drive and take advantage of the USB Music Player feature that will be included with the new update. MP3, MP4, M4A and 3GP will be supported, but the files will have to remain on the USB drive if you want to listen to them; they can't be copied to the system's hard drive.
Sony will also improve the main home screen. The PS4 will now limit what it displays to your 15 most-used games or apps, and the rest will be stored in the Library section. Thankfully, the Library will be updated to let you filter and sort at will. And of course, we'll get the previously confirmed features as well: Theme support, the chance to spruce up your background with a bunch of different colors, and a "players you may know" area in the What's New section. We also get improved voice commands, enhanced live streaming, and a new way to back up PS4 data (from settings and saves to video clips and downloads).
And oh yeah, Share Play is coming, too. Man, this update will be epic .
"PS4 Firmware Update 2.20 Delivers Even More Sweet Features"
It's 2.00, as written later in the post.
And the back up data thing is not coming in this update, as stated in an added section of the post on the PSBlog

Maybe he already knew the later 2.20 update will have the backup feature??? 😉
While I'm happy that this is finally coming, and just in time to use for entrances, in theory, for wwe 2k15, I seriously don't get why sony isn't letting us save the music to our hard drives.
We could on ps3 so why not ps4? So I'm just supposed to keep my entire music library on my flash drive at all times? It might not be that bad if that includes external hard drives, but how are we supposed to make a playlist?
I'm okay with taking baby steps, but I'm not okay with gimped features.
I was going to say I hope they add support for FLAC files later on, but there's no way they would all fit on a flash drive.
Good stuff! I wish we could organize our games with folders though, instead of what they are deciding to go with.
Hey PSX wanna 5 re to get an answer from Sony as to why we can save our own music on our PS4?
???
I just wish my PS4 had DLNA support already…what's the point of removing features unrelated to gaming, like having music on the hard drive and dlna. Sony Pls.
One word Money!
I wonder how much longer until it catches up with the PS3.
I wonder too. Hopefully during it's second year of release it will be able to surpass the PS3 in terms of useful features and available services (most of which are optional and not obligatory though).
Love the new additions. Cant wait to try them out next month. Now if they can fix their shoddy network and release finished games, we'll be on to something.

Cool. Now I can listen to some music worth listening too when playing CrapClub. Gimme some Judas Priest!
I'm not sure about other games but gt5 and gt6 incorporates custom music soundtrack PERFECTLY. I hope the ps4 gets to that point.
and still no mention of the standby play pause feature.
a feature which was announced 18 months ago!
a feature which the competition had ON LAUNCH DAY!
…… 4 the gam3rs my a$$!
more like for the facebook generation!
update after update after update its nothing but more features for shareplay, and nothing, absolute f*ck all to improve the gaming side of the system!
my god what the &^%$ has happened to $ony this gen!?
I sure hope Sony is making that Library folder available offline. It wont be pretty otherwise. Offline Trophies should also be considered.

thank you windows 95 features
I'm not really interested in those updates. I'm waiting for Sony to allow us to use our own music when the system is on the home screen, and we could really use our themes and avatars (without having to go to my PS3 to change it).
I agree with you!
well this is interesting and good to know
happy gaming
video clips? like we'll be able to store our video clips on PS4???
Everything Sony got right with the PS3 in terms of media sharing etc they got wrong with the PS4!
