Yes, it's true. Gamers have a knack for complaining about everything .
Ubisoft confirmed that Far Cry 4 is targeting the max 1080p resolution across PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, but the two versions won't be exactly identical.
This according to game director Alex Hutchinson's Twitter replies , where he said the differences between the PS4 and Xbox One iterations would be "negligible." Specifically, when asked by a fan to describe how the versions look side by side:
"I would say identical but then some asshat would say a tree had one more leaf on xbone. So let's say I don't see a difference."
When asked why Ubisoft didn't lower the resolution to improve the frame rate (which sits at 30FPS), Hutchinson simply replied: "Because then people would just complain about that." Later, he said that people are just way too interested in the resolution and frame rate debate and that in the end, "gameplay trumps everything."
Indeed it does. I'm plenty tired of the constant whining and dissection surrounding these technical aspects as well. Who cares this much about a few extra frames or pixels? I mean, seriously.
Related Game(s): Far Cry 4
Agreed! The game can run flawlessly at 1080p/60fps but that doesn't matter if it isn't fun. Focus on gameplay and then worry about tech specs.
Too bad Ubi games always play like crap
I care about framerate because of controller response. If a fighting game targets 30 or 60 fps and drops frames consistently it is very noticeable. It annoys me that developers do not go the extra length for "smooth framerate. Far cry 4 drops frames on the ps4 from demo kiosks. So here's hoping they make sure it is locked down to 30 straight across.
damn right
Well, it depends on the game. Yes, fighting games should target 60fps.
And probably FPS games. But everything else can probably be fine at 30fps and it wouldn't hinder gameplay at all.
It's Far Cry so the gameplay isn't going to change especially if the extra leaf is there or not so go ahead and put it there and quitcherbitchin.
I simply want 1080p n 60fps if possible. Just because a few frames or pixels may not matter doesnt mean they shouldnt strive n push for it. And ESPECIALLY not holding back just so all platforms are even to avoid controversy. That's chickening out imo.
At least one guy who doesn't want to sparkle a war.
I have a feeling I'll be able to enjoy it at 60+fps 😉
I'm not playing it unless it's 1440p @ 120fps. 🙂
i think this stupid put every platform at its true potential not holding back anything and that people can choose what they want
happy gaming
I wonder if anyone could test to see just how taxing this game is on both systems…because like I said on this site before imo Ubisoft is taking the easy way out. They are making the game for xbox one and simply porting the title to PS4, knowingly providing PS4 owners with a lesser product. Everyone should boycott this and all future Ubisoft games on PS4. Until Ubisoft guarantee's us they are taking the extra time and effort to provide us with what we know they can…. a better looking, more fluid game on PS4.
Gamers need to stop thinking 60fps is needed in EVERY GAME… No, a puzzle game doesn't NEED 60fps, NO, an open world adventure game doesn't NEED 60fps, and no, MOST game genres don't NEED 60fps. The genres that SHOULD target 60fps are twitch games such as fighting games and competitive FPS and racing games, other than that I'd rather have a good looking(1080p), good playing game.
I also find it funny how people expect 1080/60 to be the standard for consoles when there are many PC games that can't run at that unless you have a mid/high level video card in there…
