Dragon Age Keep: How Your Decisions Make A Difference

Forget about transferring save data; this is much more complex.

Decisions you made in Dragon Age: Origins and Dragon Age II will actually have an effect on the new world in Dragon Age: Inquisition . The Dragon Age Keep will allow you to "recreate your story."

The Keep will begin with an interactive questionnaire of sorts, as you'll answer questions as part of an "animated journey" through the franchise. This is narrated by Varric Tethras, a character you'll meet in the new adventure. As explained in a recent EA Blog post , the Keep will "let you generate your unique world history, eliminate inconsistencies, and store multiple playthroughs."

A mere save file wouldn't have cut the mustard; it wouldn't have been able to carry over all the decisions a player made in previous games. Furthermore, there was some concern that cross-platform users would lose their progress. Hence, the Keep:

"[W]ith the help of the community we've worked to ensure that, going forward, the Keep will stand as the record of your impact in the world of Thedas–dutifully preserved and accurately represented in future products, limited only by creative aspiration of the game team."

Here's a statistic for you: In order to see each possible world state for one second, it would take 16,400 times the age of the universe. …is that number even possible? Well, whatever; it just means nobody's Inquisition world will be exactly identical to any other.
