Shadow Warrior: An Upgrade That Still Feels Old-School

If you remember the name "Shadow Warrior," you were playing games back in the late '90s, and you might be interested in the new reboot.

The original Shadow Warrior launched back in 1997 as a pseudo-successor to Duke Nukem 3D . As such, the game was loaded with all sorts of gore and campy humor, a gaming trend that has fallen by the wayside in recent years. But developer Flying Wild Hog wants to bring it back, and they want to maintain the old-school feel, but without making the game feel old.

They describe the process over at the PlayStation Blog , and it's pretty encouraging: There will be four different settings and seventeen chapters overall, and they've added special powers, kills and weapon customization. In other words, they're taking all the necessary strides to turn this into a modern-day experience, but they're not sacrificing the old-fashioned feel and atmosphere.

Shadow Warrior will feature 1080p and 60 frames per second and it's slated for the fall. Can't wait to try it!

The game has been available on steam since last year. If you can, I recommend downloading the demo. It is really fun-especially if you are into first person melee combat.
