Sony: We See Destiny As A First-Party Launch For PS4

See? We told you PlayStation 4 sales would increase thanks to Destiny .

But Sony UK managing director Fergal Gara explains it so much better than us.

In speaking to Eurogamer , Gara says Sony is treating the release of Bungie's mammoth title as a first-party launch:

"We're treating it, for all intents and purposes internally, as if it's a first-party release. We're wrapping our arms around it on all levels of the organization. It's a special project and an important project and it has the power to launch Christmas. It's hugely important."

Sony teamed up with Activision to land a bunch of PlayStation-exclusive content, not to mention the sleek Glacier White Destiny PS4 bundle. Gara calls this co-marketing effort "a lovely synergy" that will lead to "big milestones and records." And of course, as we said earlier, Destiny 's launch is arguably the start of the holiday season for the industry, and it'll really get things rolling for the PS4. Added Gara:

"It really does kickstart the market for ourselves, retailers, and publishers alike."

Everyone ready for the insanity?

I doubt I will be playing it, even when I get a PS4 I won't be getting Playstation + so it makes this game sort of redundant for me. I would get the PS3 version but I think we all are under the impression that that is not how the game is meant to be played.

So you don't plan on playing anything online? You know the ps4 requires + to play online. I don't play online either but I like plus for the free games and the share feature is going to be cool.

Halo re-invented by the team that invented Halo seems like a good weapon against Microsoft right about now.

U don't blame them. MS should embrace it, too. It's a genre defining IP that deserves the respect. Bungie has been nothing short of amazing to their fans. Digital free cross play for ps3/ps4 and 360/one just solidifies that.

I'm still not planning on buying the game, but they sure have done right by a lot of people.

Does the 360/one version come with any exclusive perks?

Good, they really should be doing this. PS4 will be the best version technically speaking and it just goes with the optics of who is really going to be the controlling interest in Destiny's future.

Sucker Punch helped work on Destiny which I found to be cool.
