Personally, I find Google Street View exceedingly creepy.
But in a virtual setting, it's just plain cool. Activision has revealed a new website called Destiny Planet View , which lets you tour areas from the game with a tool that's very similar to Google's Street View.
They used Google's technology to build it, and you can explore environments on Venus, Mars and the Moon, three of the locations you'll routinely visit in Bungie's upcoming blockbuster. You can navigate areas as you would a road in Street View, and this will include players and enemies that are currently enjoying the action. Areas of interest will bring up images, videos and other information when you click on them, although it's important to note that Destiny Planet View doesn't show every single area in the game.
Still, you can peek in on a whole lot of action, if you're so inclined.

Is it real time?
If it's anything like Google Street View it'll be based on images taken a year or two ago. 🙂
yeah, garbaaaaaaage. You can tell these guys like their own game though with stuff like this.
I think there should be like a friends list app where I can see where Temjin is while I'm on my phone and watch his battles like a creeper, then send him a message that laughs at him when he dies.
It's really well done. The emblem is cute but what impressed me the most was the inclination to build a backstory and atmosphere so enriching for the game. This obviously isn't a simple "let's make a game and crank out some sequels" thing. They kinda mislead you saying you can check out the enemies, etc. It's all static shots, no realtime movement. It's not like you're watching a streaming world but again, it did take time to do and have narrated.
