Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami is pulling no punches with his anticipated new survival/horror project.
He knows the importance of stellar voice acting these days, especially for a game that will thrive on its atmosphere. That's why the cast for The Evil Within is pretty darn impressive.
Developer Tango Gameworks has recruited actors from the legendary "Nightmare on Elm Street" films and TV shows like "Dexter" and "Hell on Wheels." Most notably, actor Jackie Earle Haley, who played the iconic Freddy Krueger in the "Elm Street" movies; he'll be voicing the main antagonist, Ruvik. Here's some solid talent:
The latter is important because in the game's first expansion, players will assume the role of Juli Kidman. This DLC will be part of the $20 DLC Pass, if you're wondering. Said Mikami:
"One of the most crucial elements to any successful survival horror game is the setting and sound, which includes the depth and authenticity of the voice acting. We brought together a great cast of experienced actors to help ensure that players really believe our characters' emotions and the tension they feel in every scene."
The Evil Within releases on October 14 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC.

If their aim is to make The Evil Within scary, they just went back a step by adding Freddy into the mix. If it's just his voice talent then sweet, but if Freddy makes an appearance i will laugh, which is what i shouldn't be doing when playing a horror game that's suppose to scare me.
I have hope for this but it has ALOT to live up to after P.T just owned the horror scene with a simple demo. marvelous!
This just makes the game seem even more unappealing and gimmicky. I don't understand why gaming companies are now relying on movie characters. It make the setting and immersion of the game completely broken. I might be being a sour puss, but I just don't care for things like this. Also, wasn't Freddie already in Mortal Kombat? I get Kratos, but that was another stupid move.
They are providing voices, not the actual characters.
Fair dues, my mistake.
Robert Englund is Freddy, not that jackoff who played him once and will never again. What a misleading article.
Yeah Robert is the one and only Freddie.Get it right Ben lol .
Come on Ben. You should be assessed some kind of penalty by actually saying that Jackie Earle Haley played Freddy in the "Elm Street" movies. He played in one horrible movie and made Freddy look like he had some kind of birth defect. Robert Englund is and always will be Freddy. If you don't know that then you don't need to report on it. GET IT RIGHT!!!
I got excited when I saw the title, but then it wasn't Robert Englund, wah wah, lol.
