No Trading Items And Equipment For Destiny Players

Essentially, Destiny is an MMO. So, does that mean you can trade items and equipment with other players?

It's not an uncommon practice and it's potentially lucrative for publisher Activision. However, while it may not be impossible in the future, don't expect such a feature right out of the gate. As developer Bungie answered simply on their website :

"Nope. We want you to earn 'em. You should be able to tell a badass story for every sweet jewel in your arsenal.

Once you earn them, the various Guardians under your account will be able to trade them. But weapons belong to the players who acquire them through action and bravery."

Back in April, the developer told IGN that a player-to-player system of sorts – akin to the now-defunct Auction House for Diablo III – might be a possibility "if the community calls for it." The designer is also concerned about "the security situation for both our systems and all platforms.

Don't be surprised if a real-money item system shows up at some point. If the game really does have a ten-year lifespan and they really don't implement a subscription plan, you can bet Activision will be looking for another way to monetize the experience.

Fine, I'm not giving up my gear and I don't want any beggars bugging me!

Good, no need to ditch the single player experience completely.

Trading is too much of an extrovert way of making it to the top. Some of us would rather grind our way to safety.

From my viewpoint, a trading system is both a blessing and cursing.

A blessing because you can trade off weapons you don't want and need all the while making some serious in game money on it.

A cursing because certain players will become nothing more then power brokers that deal with weapon sales and trading.

The PS3 MMORPG Defiance had this very system in place. I like making a bit more scrip (in game currency) but absolutely hated buying over-priced mods just because I could never find one.

Regardless, I still want one eventually.

Whats wrong with merchants? That's is always me in MMO's it is BY FAR the easiest way to become a power player those who focus on combat or skilling simply do not make the most money why do that work when you can take it easy and let all the others do it for you.
In most MMOs I could make the same amount of cash in an hour as someone who spends 5 hours doing raids or bosses simply by flipping gear, AKA buying for a lower margin and selling for a higher. I find flipping gear and making deals just as fun as killing bosses for two hours so what's wrong with that?
Oh just thought of a good example I play Warframe and managed to get Loki prime on the very first day starting with 0 platinum(the premium currency) just by cutting deals when people in my clan camped the Loki missions for half a week to just get theirs. Took me about 500 Platinum(roughly $30)I had a hell of a time making that and was quite fun.

Welp, one positive way to look at this Legendary gear REALLY is going to be Legendary.

As I said above, the trading system is both good and bad. I also want a trading system in place as well too.

FFS one of the most requested things not in the game. =S All they have to do is make gear bind on equip and that would be all it takes to maintain a fairly stable economy.

Just put down my pre-order on the white PS4 bundled with this game. Can't wait for September 9.
Wow, bundle is a funny word if you say it enough…or read it once.

Yeah, as usual I agree with their reasoning.

A major part of the experience of Destiny, is finding that loot. Discovering some awesome weapon where you're like WOAH that's totally batshit. Letting players trade just opens up private markets and other shady bullshit, as well as changing the experience altogether.

I like their decision. It would be nice to trade some stuff with friends, but we all know it would lead to people selling those legendary and exotic items. I don't play MMOs, but IMO it would make Destiny like free-to-play games that encourage paying instead of playing.
