My Response To A Grand Theft Auto V Delay: Yes, Please

Go right ahead. Make my day.

Everyone is about to freak out because the word is that Grand Theft Auto V won't make it this year. My response is simple: Good.

We can only play so many games and while we've already seen lots of delays this year, there are still plenty of huge titles on the horizon. I mean, just look at games like Destiny , Assassin's Creed: Unity , Assassin's Creed Rogue , Dragon Age: Inquisition and Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare . A few of those will offer countless hours of multiplayer entertainment, while others are gigantic open-world adventures that are bound to require many hours to complete.

When they announced that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt wouldn't release until 2015, I breathed a sigh of relief. A lot of people I know did the same when they heard about Batman: Arkham Knight . I mean, these are massive adventures and if you're a little behind (like most people who have lives), the idea of all these open-world games coming out all at once is quite daunting. I never finished GTAV and I'll definitely want to do so on the PlayStation 4. But I seriously doubt I'll have time this year so by all means, push it into 2015.

I've got zero problem with that. None.

Nooooo. So heartbroken!

And not everyone reviews games for a living Ben, so must people play what they enjoy and not every big adventure that releases. Just saying lol

This year is Metro Redux and like 3 other games for me. None of which are massive adventures either.

I like to just move from one to the next. With lots of adventures why sit around playing one for months? Unless you just don't have the skrilla of course.

I'm not going to be getting the next-gen version of GTA V, but I do still have an issue with it being pushed into 2015…

You're right in saying that there are a number of really big titles coming out before the end of this year that will take up hours and hours and hours of one's time if one chooses to invest themselves in the games, but next year is already shaping up to be even more insane.

Not all of the games will be massive, open-world adventures, but we only have so much time. By the time people have gotten through the holiday glut, they'll be staring down the barrel at The Order and The Witcher 3, and possibly Battlefield Hardline. Not to mention Bloodborne, MGSV and Dead Island 2 being slated for early in the year, and goodness knows what else…

It's going to be another absolutely bonkers year for games…

Meh… I couldn't care less. I really want the game now, but if it delays, no biggie.

City, cars, guns, eh. Let em take another year if they want. I may get to it.

Actual next gen games delayed is trouble.

I agree, except for the reason differing from your, Ben; money. I am not sure how I can afford to BUY all of the games I am interested in. Time is second to my first issue.

Nonetheless, GTAV was soothe last Gen game that I missed out on. Feeling a little bit better about it not having made the list of games I've owned. Now, I get to enjoy it… When it finally does release.

Well, I've already waited a year for this. So I am starting to get a bit restless.

Sure, we got Inquisition, Far Cry and Borderlands ahead. That's more than enough for me, true.

But… It's Grand f*ing Theft Auto we talk about here. And it's the GTA that returns to glory after the misstep that was GTA4.
So yeah… I'm getting restless here.

I got way to many games to play. Still haven't played tales of Xillia yet. Still in the unopened box. I'm trying to finish Fire Emblem on my Wii U(actually it is the wii game. Didnt have a Wii but got a Wii U!). of course I will live in DESTINY for a while as well. So ….. game on!

Better play Xillia cuz part 2 is out now. I wanna buy it but I have too many games on my plate so I should wait for a price drop.

The bigger issue that has not been mentioned is the ongoing delays from big name titles…horrible trend and not good for consumer trust

couldn't agree more – the fall is packed – February will be devoted to the Order 1886 and BF Hardline is March – so January or April please.

Ben, if you think you are "safe" in 2015 you are mistaken dear sir. As you said it, many games are now pushed to 2015, not including these that are scheduled initially for 2015…
Just wait untill you hit 2015 and will have to play all these masterpieces that will come out. Lucky for you, you have more time then me to play games.

As for myself, I grieve to the fact it may be delayed, as this was the game that I believed would fill those long fall/winter evenings.
That said it, I've never been a fan of AC, CoD and DA.
